Highlighted Player of the Week: Inokawa and Ramaraju

(Savannah, Ga.)– This past weekend during the Georgia Open at Savannah Harbor, the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) witnessed some impressive golfing in windy conditions.  Savannah Harbor was the host site of the 2012 Georgia PGA State Open Championship, so this was a great opportunity for the junior golfers to compete where the professionals have played.  Two of the golfers that came out as champions were Shosei Inokawa from Atamishi, Japan and Lohith Ramaraju from London, England.

Starting the final round tied for first place, Inokawa finished 1-over-par and was named the Boys 15-19 Division Champion.  The tournament total of 147 came with rounds of 74 and 73, which included six birdies throughout the tournament.  Inokawa had a slow start to his final round by going 3-over-par on his first 7 holes, but then finished out the rest of the holes in 2-under-par for a 73.  This was Inokawa’s second tournament of the spring semester, his first being The Winter Shootout at Eagle’s Point where he placed third overall.

Ramaraju had one of the largest bounce backs of the field by firing a tournament low 2-under-par 70 after his first round of 83.  This comeback propelled Ramaraju into first place which helped crown him the Boys 14 & Under Champion.  Starting the final round on the back nine, Ramaraju had a birdie on 10 and 13, and then finished the round birdie, birdie, par.  This was also Ramaraju’s second tournament of the spring season, his first being at The Winter Shootout at Eagle’s Point where he placed third overall.
