Highlighted Players of the Week: April 28-29, 2012

Northeast Tour

(Lopotcong, N.J.) - On April 28-29, 2012,  the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) traveled to the Architects Golf Club to host The Jersey Championship. With chilly mornings and warm afternoons, Architects Golf Club was the perfect venue. The great weather brought low scores all weekend long, especially the two players that earned the honors of the Highlighted Players of the Week, Luke Edelman and Jennifer Lee

Luke Edelman of Mahwah, N.J., was the returning champion and was back to defend his title in the Boys 15-19 Division. After a solid 2-under-par 69 in the first round, Edelman was on a mission to win the championship back-to-back. In his final round he carded an even-par 71, proving that he still has the talent to be the back-to-back champ. He had 25 pars and seven birdies all weekend. This was Edelman's last event with the IJGT as he will be continuing his golfing career at Bucknell University in the fall. Luke has big goals to accomplish in the next couple of years in his life and the IJGT is excited to follow his progress at the next level.

In the Girls Division, Jennifer Lee of Rye, N.Y., is the Highlighted Player of the Week. Jen shot rounds of 86-80 for a tournament total of 166. Her final round of 80 was the Low Final Round which means she won an IJGT belt from Clazic Belts. She had 17 pars all weekend which was tied for the most pars in her division. Lee came in third-place after she battled hard on the second round. Jen has a successful junior career with the IJGT and will also be taking her game to the next level.

These two young golfers are perfect examples of the type of careers that can be made while playing the IJGT. With hard work and low rounds in IJGT events Luke and Jen will be chasing their dreams at the next level.

(Hilton Head Island, S.C.) - This past weekend, April 28-29, 2012, the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) hosted the KENTWOOL Socks Open at Oyster Reef. The competitors were presented with a tough challenge, as there is very little room for error on Oyster Reef’s tight layout. The Highlighted Players of the Week are Christiana Wang and Julien Paltrinieri.

In just her first tournament with the IJGT, Christina Wang of Guangzhou, China was victorious. Christina carded two very impressive rounds of 1-under-par 71 and 2-under-par 70. Her final round 70 included a stretch of three birdies in a row on the back nine; good for a bogey-free 32. The tournament was extremely close coming down the stretch but Christina kept a steady hand on the greens to secure the victory by one stroke.

In the Boys 14 & Under Division, Julien Paltrinieri of Hilton Head Island, S.C., had a very good weekend at Oyster Reef. After the close of competition on day one he found himself with a slim one-stroke lead after a solid round of 74. The second day of the tournament was equally competitive and Julien kept his poise in the slightly windy conditions. After finishing the event at 6-over-par he found himself in a playoff with Blake Smith of Knoxville, Tenn. Julien just missed his birdie attempt and came up just short in the playoff. Overall Julien played a great tournament and is well deserving of the honor of IJGT Highlighted Player of the Week.
