IJGT Summer Match Play Events
While we wrap up the 2011-2012 IJGT season, it is time to look ahead towards opportunities that are available to junior golfers in the summer.
We are currently accepting applications for the North America Cup and Euro Junior Golf Cup, both of which take place in July. These events are great ways to compete in a match play setting, as well as build a well rounded resume that will stand out to any coach.
Anyone is welcome to apply for both of these events. Each respective team is selected based on numerous factors, including merit point standing, finishes in the Major Championship Series of Events, and overall golf resume. Space is limited to 14 players for each event (8 Boys 15-19, 4 Boys U-14, 2 Girls) and spots always fill fast.
If you are interested in taking your summer golf plans to the next level, fill out the respective application and fax it to our IJGT offices at 843-785-6199. You can also email applications and any questions to the Team USA Non-Playing Captain Zach Eberly at ZachE@ijgt.com.
North America Cup
The North America Cup pits 14 of the IJGT's best players from the 2011-2012 season against 14 of the Canadian Junior Golf Associations (CJGA) finest golfers in a 3 day match play event. This year, the action takes place July 1-4 at Oldfield Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, SC. Team USA has won the coveted North America Cup 4 years in a row and seven of the nine total competitions. Fourball matches, foursome matches, and singles matches make up the three competition rounds.
If you are interested in competing in this event, please download the North America Cup Application.
Euro Junior Golf Cup
The Euro Junior Golf Cup takes us back to golf's humble beginnings in St. Andrews, Scotland. Every year, the IJGT compiles a team of 14 talented junior golfers to travel across the "pond" and compete in a unique triangular match play event against some of the best junior talent from the CJGA and FIFE Team Scotland.
Compete on 3 of Scotland's finest courses for the John Clark Trophy, awarded every year to the winning team. Team USA stays at the famous St. Andrews University for the duration of the event, which is just minutes away from The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience that will create memories and friendships that last a lifetime.
The dates for this event are July 20 to July 28. If you are interested in applying to be a part of Team USA, please download the Euro Cup Application.
