IJGT Summer Spotlight - Players Amateur

IJGT Summer Spotlight - Players Amateur

One of the best benefits of playing on the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) is the chance for junior golfers to earn invitations into some of the best amateur golf tournaments across the country. This week in Bluffton, S.C., two IJGT players will be competing in the Players Amateur at Berkeley Hall Club. The tournament will be a 72-hole stroke play event with the winner earning an exemption into the PGA TOUR's 2013 RBC Heritage held at Harbour Town Golf Links. Many great players have won this event, which started in 2000, including Ben Curtis, Bill Haas, Camillo Villegas, Rickie Fowler, and Bud Cauley.

Peter Mathison of West Palm Beach, Fla., qualified for the tournament via his victory at the 2012 IJGT Bridgestone Golf Tournament of Champions, and Matt Cheng of Taipei, Taiwan, qualified with his victory in the 4th Hank Haney Invitational.

The Players Amateur features some of the best amateur golf talent in the country with many current and past NCAA Division 1 All-Americans. IJGT alum Richy Werenski is also in the tournament this week.

The tournament starts today (July 12th) and all spectators get in free at Berkeley Hall Club. Go out and show your support for the IJGT players and watch some great golf!
