Team USA Set Sights on the 2010 Euro Cup
Team USA Sends Word from Across the Pond!
The
final preparations have been made for Team USA as we prepare to face off with
Team Canada and Team Fife Scotland in a three day match play event known as the
Euro Cup. St. Andrews, Scotland has been
the home of this event for many years and proves to be a worthy test for all
players with howling winds and sloping fairways and greens.
Since arriving on Saturday, we have played practice rounds on all three courses to be played in the event. First, Drumoig Golf Club is nestled in the rolling hills and rich farmland of the Scottish countryside. Tuesday, Team USA took to the 13th oldest golf course in the world, Scotscraig Golf Club, which proved to be a very difficult challenge with tight fairways and hidden bunkers. Today, the final practice round took place at the Crail Golfing Society, which is a traditional Scottish golf course located throughout the rocks and cliffs of the coast line.
Led by playing captain Alex Lynch, team USA looks to take home the 2010 Euro Cup for the first time in history. Fourteen junior golfers will leave it all on the course over the next three days to represent the IJGT and the United States. Crail Golfing Society will be the first test for the competitors, with Scotscraig being played Thursday and Drumoig hosting the final round on Friday. The challenge will be steep, but with a very talented team anything is possible.
