The second round of the Faldo Series US Grand Final was held today at Bella Collina in Monteverd, FL. Today served as “moving day” in the 54-hole event and saw changes in the leaderboard for all four divisions.
In the Boys U18 Division, Teddy Tetak (2018, Slovakia) post an eight-under par 64 to lead by 4 going into the final round. Tetak, committed to play at the University of South Carolina next fall, had 8 birdies and 10 pars today to put him at -11 for the tournament. Trailing Tetak in second place, Jairus Gaines (2018, Baltimore, MD) followed his first round 68 (-4) with a three-under par 69 and sits at -7.
Niels Schmidlin (2019, Switzerland) leads the Boys U16 Division after shooting 69 (-3) today. Schmidlin holds a one stroke lead at 5-under-par after posting a 70 (-2) yesterday. Egor Zotov (2019, Russia) holds sole second place and trails by a stroke. After posting a 4-under-par 32 on the front nine today, Zotov shot 37 on the back to post a 69 (-3). Both players are full time students at Bishops Gate Golf Academy. Round 1 Leader, Evan Owan (2019, Germantown, MD), shot 74 (+2) and is tied in third with Felix van Kleef (2019, Germany).
In the Girls U18 Division, Annie Kim (2018, South Korea) extended her lead to 7-strokes going into the final round. Haruka Shintani (2018, Japan) shot 76 to remain in second place for the event. Low round of the day for Girls U18 was Fiona Khaing (2022, Myanmar), shooting even par (72) – a seven stroke improvement from Round 1.
Cynthia Tu (2019, Vienna, VA) shot 71 (-1) to tie Round 1 leader, Ying-Ting Hsieh (2019, Taiwan) for the lead going into the final round for the Girls U16 Division. It will be a battle for the win tomorrow between Tu and Hsieh as Fabienne van Kleef (2020, Germany) trails by 11 strokes in third place.
