Big weekend ahead for IJGT – Tour Preview Sept. 27-28, 2014

As the 2014 fall season continues, the IJGT is gearing up for two big events this weekend, Sept. 27-28, 2014. For those registered, we have two great tournament venues in line for you!

Heading north, the Northeast Tour will take over Brook Lea Country Club to host the IJGT Upstate Challenge. The two-day 18-hole tournament will allow juniors to compete for IJGT merit points and national rankings.

brook lea

Brook Lea Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.

Constructed in 1926, the Donald Ross designed golf course remains one of Rochester’s most challenging and enjoyable golf courses. The course offers breathtaking views, a peaceful setting and an exhilarating test that will challenge golfers of all levels. The meadows and woodlands are woven together by ponds and creeks culminating in two finishing championship par-3 holes.

Having won the Upstate Challenge in the 2013-2014 season, Danny Gianniny of Rochester, N.Y., will be a player to watch as he looks to use the local course to secure a second Upstate Challenge victory.

Heading south, the Southeast Tour will return to a fan-favorite Oldfield Golf Club to host the IJGT Lowcountry Open. Also a two-day, 18-hole event, the Lowcountry Open will offer up national rankings and IJGT merit points.

Oldfield

Oldfield Golf Club in Okatie, S.C.

Oldfield has no shortage of breathtaking scenery and was recognized by the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for its attention to preserving the local environment. The natural environment equates to small greens and free-form bunkers. The course is located just off the Okatie River and offers a one-of-a-kind golfing experience.

Returning to the Lowcountry Open for the second consecutive year, be sure to watch for Yong Sherng Hui of Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, who will look to improve upon his 10th place finish at the event in 2013. In the Girls Division, keep an eye on Sera Tadokoro of Osaka, Japan. The recent verbal-commit to University of Central Florida will look to better her second-place finish in the 2013 Lowcountry Open this weekend with a title.
