Burnett, Clair earn IJGT Player of the Week honors – Feb. 3, 2015

This past weekend, January 31 – February 1, 2015,  the IJGT competed at the Wexford Plantation, for the Lowcountry Junior. The cold weather and wind made the first day of competition tough but players enjoyed the challenging greens and warmer weather prevailed on day two. Following this event, the IJGT is proud to present Player of the Week honors to Camila Burnett and Cameron Clair, both of Bluffton, S.C..

Burnett, in her first IJGT appearance, exemplified sportsmanship. Younger than her fellow Girls Division competitors by at least two years, Burnett holed out from 50 yards on the par-4 hole No. 9 for birdie. She illustrated a passion for the game of golf despite her age and her performance was highlighted by at least one birdie in each round. Showing amazing maturity, Burnett recovered well mentally when shots didn’t go her way.

Battling winds and chilly temperatures, Clair struggled through his first round front nine finishing 14-over. Determined to show his best, Clair returned on day to and during that same stretch in his final round, he carded a birdie and six par-or-better finishes to shave 12 strokes off his score on the front nine alone. On the back nine, he closed out tournament play strong with his longest par-or-better streak of the weekend on five straight holes.

Congratulations to Burnett and Clair for their Player of the Week honors!
