Matt Every played in 91 PGA Tour events, and never had the pleasure of holding the trophy at the end. That all changed this past weekend on March 23rd, when Every won the 2014 Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill by two strokes, shooting a 13-under 275 for the win. Every, an IJGT Champion, had a long road ahead of him going into the final round, down by nine strokes to eventual third-place finisher Adam Scott. Scott had a monumental collapse in the final round, and Every’s 2-under 70 on the final day was enough to pull him ahead of Scott and Keegan Bradley. Every had to watch anxiously as Bradley charged in the final holes, including a 30-foot birdie putt to send the tournament into a potential playoff between Every and Bradley. Bradley sent the putt left of the hole, sealing Every’s first PGA Tour victory.

Every played on the IJGT for several years, carding two top-10 finishes at the IJGT Tournament of Champions at Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando, Fla. He was consistently in the top-10 in his tournaments, including his 1998 victory on the IJGT at Palm Coast Resort. Every also competed on the Golf Channel’s Big Break in 2007 after finishing his NCAA career at the University of Florida. The IJGT community has followed Every’s career from the very beginning, and we continue to enjoy seeing the success that has followed him all of these years after our events. We are proud to call him an alumni, and are thrilled with his well-earned initial PGA Tour victory. Congrats Matt, and good luck at the Masters!

Patrick Reed, who competed on the IJGT at an early age, won his third PGA Tour event in seven months with a win at the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral on Sunday. He became the youngest to ever win a World Golf Championship at the age of 23.

Finishing with a 4-under-par 284, Reed was able to hold off a star-studded field that included Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Phil Mickelson. Coming into the final hole, Reed held a two-shot lead over Jamie Donaldson and Bubba Watson. With this small lead in mind, Reed chose to play a conservative last hole, which he bogeyed, to end the tournament with a one-shot victory.

Reed, who earned a Top-20 finish in the 2001 IJGT Tournament of Champions, played in several IJGT events in the Boys 11-12 Division. Reed cited his successful junior career in the post-tournament interviews as a benefit to his current success. The IJGT is incredibly proud of the success that Patrick has had in both the collegiate ranks and now in his PGA Tour career. We cannot wait to see what’s next for Patrick’s career, and wish him the best of luck in the rest of the PGA Tour! Congrats Patrick!

IJGT ELITE Class Announced by the IJGT

Introducing IJGT Elite Class Series

IJGT ELITE

Beginning this week, the IJGT is proud to announce the beginning of a new series of blog posts meant to highlight the ongoing success of our alumni, and continue to showcase how our alumni perform at the next levels of elite competition.

The IJGT ELITE will feature top performances by IJGT alumni in the NCAA, PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, European Tour and other elite levels of competition throughout the golf season. With alumni such as Rickie Fowler, Morgan Pressel, Paula Creamer, Annie Park, Cheyenne Woods, and other highly-successful golfers, the IJGT continues the tradition of helping to shape world-class golfers through high-level competition at the best courses in the country.

As we highlight these achievements, we hope to shed light on the immense impact that higher competition provides to junior golfers and their future in the sport, and we encourage our members to contact us about the success of our alumni.

To those who are already in the next levels of competition and continue to perform at a high level:
