Greeted by the coldest weather of the season and gusty winds, the IJGT held the IJGT Island Open at Palmetto Hall on November 1-2, 2014, on the Arthur Hills Course. To combat the weather, juniors called upon their winter hats and multiple layers. This week’s Photo of the Week from the event features Santiago Diaz of Merida, Mexico, during his opening tee shot in round one.

Diaz, Santiago (3)

Prior to the IJGT Island Open, Diaz had played in five IJGT events, his personal best performance coming at the IJGT Junior at Colleton River on September 6-7, 2014 (T10).  Unfazed by the weather, Diaz recorded a new career best with the IJGT by finishing second with a two-day total 154. Despite a few unwanted bogeys in round one, Diaz added three birdied in the difficult opening round to sit in a four-way tie for second. Taking advantage of the improved conditions in round two, Diaz added an additional three birdies and shaved two strokes off his round one score en route to securing full possession of second place.

Congratulations Santiago Diaz on being our IJGT Photo of the Week this week!
