College Prep at Palmetto Hall – Ogawa, Kim & Huang lead round one

The IJGT visited backyard venue Palmetto Hall to host College Prep on the Robert Cupp Course on April 26, 2014. The 54-hole event consists of 36 holes played in the first day and a final round of 18 holes on day two. Juniors took to the course for round one, the first 18 holes, under breezy, warm temperatures in the 70s. In review, divisional leaders’ rounds in numbers are below.

Tennoshin Ogawa of Ichinomiya-shi, Japan, leads the Boys 15-19 Division. His round in numbers:

73 – his round-one score, standing at 1-over-par

5 – Ogawa posted two par-or-better streaks in the first round

4 – total number of birdies in his first 18 holes of the day

1 – number of strokes he leads by after round one

In the Boys 14 and Under Division, Dong Jun Kim of Kimhae, South Korea, leads. His round in numbers:

79 – his round-one score

38 – his score on the course’s back nine – three strokes better than his score on the front nine

2 – number of birdies, on the par-5 second hole and the par-4 18th hole

1 – number of strokes he leads by before heading into round two, the second 18 holes

From Shenzhen, China, Samantha Huang leads the Girls Division. Her round in numbers:

77 – her round-one score, 5-over-par

10– College Prep is her 10th IJGT event of the 2013-2014 season

2 – back-to-back birdies on holes five and six, also the number of strokes she is out in front of second place

1 – placed first in the last tournament hosted at Palmetto Hall, on the Arthur Hill Course, in November 2013

Juniors will return to play for round two today, April 26, 2014 on a 2:00 p.m. shotgun start. The final round of 18 holes will be played tomorrow, April 27, 2014.
