College Prep at Palmetto Hall – Round Two Recap

The IJGT continued College Prep at Palmetto Hall Robert Cupp Course for a second round of 18 holes on April 26, 2014. The second round followed round one with a shotgun-start at 2:00 p.m. The weather remained sunny and breezy more than 40 juniors took the course for a second time. In review, divisional leaders’ rounds in numbers are below.

Tennoshin Ogawa of Ichinomiya-shi, Japan, leads the Boys 15-19 Division for the second-straight round. His round in numbers:

147 – his two-round score, the lowest overall score for two rounds in the tournament

35 – 1-under-par score on holes one through nine in round two

8 – Ogawa posted four birdies in both rounds for a total of eight

2 – he remains two strokes out in front of the competition

In the Boys 14 and Under Division, Dong Jun Kim of Kimhae, South Korea, leads for the second straight round. His round in numbers:

159 – Kim added a second-round score of 80 to his round-one 79 for an overall score of 159 for day one

17 – holds the lead by 17 strokes

8 – tallied a par or better streak for eight holes in round two

2 – this is only the second IJGT event for Kim, his first 54-hole event

After round two, Nikita Arjun of Bangalore, India, and Samantha Huang of Shenzhen, China, are tied in first. Their rounds in numbers are below:

74 – her round-two score, 2-over-par

5 – number of strokes she shaved from her round-one score

10– College Prep is her 10th IJGT event of the 2013-2014 season

2 – back-to-back birdies on holes 14 and 15, also the place she finished in her last tournament appearance at Palmetto Hall

76 – her score for round two, one stroke better than her round one score

36 – even-par score in the course’s back nine

2 – number of birdies carded in round two

1 – place she held after round one and is now sharing with Arjun after round two
