DC Shootout at National Golf Club – Round one recap (Oct. 4, 2014)

As the IJGT hosted the first round of the DC Shootout at National Golf Club in Washington, D.C., the wind became a strong factor with gusts over 20 mph.  The juniors braved the elements and fought to score any way they could.  In review, divisional leaders and their rounds in numbers are below.

Taso Scileras of Bethesda, Md., leads the Boys 15-19 Division.  His round in numbers:
13- number of holes Scileras finished par or better
1- Scileras leads by one stroke after round one
1- number of birdies made during round one, coming on the difficult par-5 No. 5

Jack Halleron of Timonium, Md., leads the Boys 14 & Under Division.  His round in numbers:
72- his first round total holding him at even par and also low round for all divisions
6- number of pars in a row on Nos. 4-9
3- number of birdies in round one
2- number of strokes he leads by after round one

MacKenzie Martin of Rye, N.Y., leads the Girls Division.  Her round in numbers:
1- number of pars Martin made on the day
2- number of strokes she scored better on the back nine over the front nine
4- number over par on par-3’s in round one
