The IJGT held the second stop of the Discovery Tour Series in the Northeast at Architects Golf Club. The Discovery Tour allows junior golfers ages 8-12 to experience what it is like to play in a junior tournament. It provides an opportunity for juniors to play at some of golf’s top venues, learn the rules of tournament play, and meet others of the same age in a fun and competitive atmosphere.
At the Discovery Tour at Architects Golf Club, Andrew Sample of New York, N.Y., Jay Collela of Marcellus, N.Y., and Patrick Isztwan of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., all came out to play in the event. All three juniors came ready to play. Accompanied by their fathers who caddied for them, each golfer had some amazing shots and played by rule No. 1 which is to have fun.
Collela started out strong by making a par on his first hole. He then followed his par by making a birdie on the 429-yard par-5. He also added another par on the par-3 hole number 17. Collela had some great shots throughout the day. He finished in third place with a score of 46.
Isztwan was another player who made a couple of wonderful shots. He managed to get up-and-down multiple times throughout his round to save par. He definitely put on a show with his chipping skills. He got up-and-down twice in a row to save par on holes 12 and 13. Isztwan added another par on the par-4 hole no. 15. He finished in second place with a score of 45.
Sample came into Architects and played some excellent golf. He played the course very smart and made his putting count around the greens. He had three consecutive pars in a row on holes 11-13. His third shot on hole number was 13 was one to remember. Sample added another par on hole number 17. He finished in first place with a score of 41.
This event was lot of fun for everyone involved. The next Discovery Tour Event will be the Discovery Tour at Greate Bay on May 17, 2014
