The IJGT held it’s third Discovery Tour event in the Northeast on May 17, 2014 at Greate Bay CC. The Discovery Tour allows junior golfers ages 8-12 to experience what it is like to play in a junior tournament. It provides an opportunity for juniors to play at some of golf’s top venues, learn the rules of tournament play, and meet others of the same age in a fun and competitive atmosphere.
The playing field was represented by Andrew Sample of New York, N.Y., and Clay Breidenstine of Hummelstown, Pa., at the Discovery Tour at Greate Bay CC. Accompanied by their fathers who caddied for them, each golfer had some amazing shots and played by rule No. 1 which is to have fun.
Breidenstine finished in second place with a score of 78. Throughout his round Breidenstine had some great all around shots. From drives to putts, Breidenstine made a variety of good shots. This was his first IJGT event and we hope to see him in the future.
Finishing in first place, was Andrew Sample. Sample was coming off a first place finish in the Discovery Tour at Architects Golf Club. Sample finished his 9-hole round with a score of 48. He started out strong by making bogey at his first two holes. Sample continued to play consistently to finish out his round and take his second championship at the Discovery Tour this season. We want to congratulate him on his two wins this season as we look forward to seeing him at upcoming events.
Keep an eye out for the 2014-2015 Discovery Tour Schedule to be released soon!
