The IJGT held their first Discovery Tour Event of 2014 at Westfields Golf Club, and it was a great success. The Discovery Tour allows junior golfers ages 8-12 to experience what it is like to play in a junior tournament. It provides an opportunity for juniors to play at some of golf’s top venues, learn the rules of tournament play, and meet others of the same age in a fun and competitive atmosphere.
At the Discovery Tour at Westfields, Ryan D’Ariano of West Chester, Pa., and Titus Matthews of Woodland Park, N.J., came out to play in the Event. Both 10-year-olds came ready to play as they crushed their first drives into the fairway on hole No. 1, each carding a par to start off their round. Accompanied by their fathers who caddied for them, each golfer had some amazing shots and played by rule No. 1 which is to have fun.
D’Ariano took first place in the Discovery Tour at Westfields. He made two pars and carded an impressive birdie on the par-3, hole No. 7. D’Ariano finished his round with a nine-hole total of 41. Matthews finished in second place with a score of 49.
This Event was very successful and lot of fun for everyone involved. The next Discovery Tour Event will be the Discovery Tour at Architects Golf Club on April 12, 2014.
