First-round highlights from the Georgia Junior at Sea Island

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) opened up its Fall 2013 season today on the Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club. The course, which host the PGA Tour’s McGladery Classic, played very difficult with few players coming out unscathed. Nine countries and eight states were represented in the Georgia Junior at Sea Island.

In the Boys 15-19 Division, Chang Ju Lee of Seoul, South Korea, provided some fireworks during the first round and is the first-round leader after putting together a solid score of 2-over-par 72. The highlight of his round came on the narrow 14th hole on the Seaside Course where he holed out from 165 yards for eagle. Here is his round by the numbers.

Jana Wuensch of Herrenberg, Germany, took command in the Girls Division after an impressive score of 1-over-par 71. This is her first IJGT tournament and she is poised to take home the trophy tomorrow after building a size able lead. Here is her round by the numbers.

Karl Vilips of Melbourne, Australia, played for the first time on the IJGT and he continued his dominant play in competitive golf. After having a great summer, he shot an opening-round 80 to take the lead in the Boys 14 & Under Division. Vilips’s round did not get started off well, but he quickly rebounded to post a solid score.
