First-round highlights from the IJGT Island Open at Palmetto Hall

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) traveled just around the corner for the IJGT Island Open at Palmetto Hall, taking place Nov. 2-3, 2013. What began as a cold, wet morning for the golfers turned out to be a sunny Fall day with fantastic golf temperatures. The first round of the event was held on the club’s famed Arthur Hills Course, featuring heavily wooded areas with towering pines and moss-draped oaks, along with lush fairways rolling past crystalline lakes. These are your leaders going into the final round of competition.

The Boys 15-19 Division leader is Yong Sherng Hui of Taman Dagang, Malaysia, who got off to a fast start shooting a cool 3-under-par 69. He currently holds a two-stroke lead going into the final round. Here is Hui’s round by the numbers:

On top of the Boys 14 & Under Division is Karl Vilips of Melbourne, Australia. Vilips holds a comfortable five-shot lead going into the final round with a score of 73. Here is his round by the numbers:

Taking charge of the Girls Division is Samantha Huang of Shenzhen, China, who came out with a 1-under-par 71 after 18 holes. Her performance gives her a five-stroke lead going into the final day of competition. Here is Huang’s round by the numbers:
