Brandon Hagy, who had three Top-10 finishes on the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT), is participating in his first PGA TOUR event this week. Hagy, 23, is chasing the title at the Humana Challenge, which began January 22 and will conclude on Jan. 25, 2015, in La Quinta, Calif.
After a successful amateur career, the Westlake Village, Calif., native played college golf at the University of California, Berkeley. While at Cal, he competed in four NCAA Championships. Following his senior season, Hagy earned consensus first-team All-American honors and was ranked No. 6 in the final 2013-2014 collegiate rankings according to both Golfstat and Golfweek. Hagy graduated from the prestigious Haas School of Business in May of 2014.
The 2015 Humana Challenge features a field of 156 professional players. The format is Pro-Am play for the first 54 holes; each of the pros will switch amateur partners and courses over the first three days. On Sunday, the final day of the tournament, the low 70 professionals and ties will play the final round of the 72-hole event.
The Humana Challenge defending champion, Patrick Reed, is also an IJGT alum.
Reed will tee off today, Saturday Jan. 24, at 10:20 a.m. and Hagy will tee off immediately after at 10:30 a.m. at the Arnold Palmer Private at PGA WEST. Stay tuned to the leaderboard here.
