Simin Feng, an IJGT alum, won the 2014 Central District Invitational at the Lakewood Ranch (Fla.) Golf and Country Club on Feb. 18, 2014. Feng, who is a freshman at Vanderbilt University, shot a 9-under-par 207 to tie Allyssa Ferrell of Michigan State. In a scorecard playoff, Feng bested Ferrell on the 18th with a birdie to earn her individual medalist honors, and help Vanderbilt secure the overall win at the tournament.
Feng played in several IJGT tournaments from 2005 to 2006, scoring a number of top-10 finishes in the Girls 10-14 year old division, including an eighth place finish at the 2006 IJGT Tournament of Champions. The IJGT community is thrilled with Feng’s immediate success in the NCAA ranks and is proud to include her among the ranks of IJGT alumni who continue to succeed in NCAA competition. Congratulations to Feng and the Vanderbilt Commodores women’s golf team on their early success this season!
