Former International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) tour member and current Furman University freshman, Taylor Totland, placed tied for sixth in her school’s Lady Paladin Invitational on Sept. 20-22 on the par-72, 6,266-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.
Totland, who tallied a final 1-under-par 215 through three rounds, led her team to a tied for fifth place finish among the 16 schools competing. After carding a 1-under-par 71 in Round 1 and an even-par 72 in Round 2, Totland entered the Final Round two under on the back nine and ultimately posted five birdies on the day to end at even-par once again.
Furman head coach Kelley Hester was extremely pleased with her team’s performance, stating, “I was really proud of our team effort this weekend, specifically with freshman Taylor Totland’s sixth-place finish.”
While with the IJGT, Totland played in several events, most notably grabbing two wins at Hershey Links on Oct. 23-24, 2010, and at the Major Championships at Penn Oaks Golf Club on Oct. 30-31, 2010. She also had two other Top-5 finishes and tied for 13th place at the Bridgestone Tournament of Champions in May 2011.
Totland and Furman will next compete at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, on Oct. 13-15.
