IJGT alumna, Annie Park of Levittown, N.Y., won the Symetra Tour’s Prairie Band Casino & Resort Charity Classic on Sept. 13, 2015 in Mayetta, Kan., at the Firekeeper Golf Course. This was Park’s third victory on the Symetra Tour this year, which automatically qualifies her for a 2016 LPGA Card.
“It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play on the LPGA since I started golf when I was eight years old,” said Park. “I looked up to Annika Sorenstam and I knew I wanted to be like her when I grew up. I’m speechless and I can’t wait to play on the LPGA next year.”
Park earned the victory in comeback fashion after the starting the final round in a tie for fifth place. She fired a 7-under, 65 in the final round to claim a three-stroke victory and finish the tournament at 13-under, 203. She got off to a blazing start with a 31 on her opening nine to take the outright lead, which she would not relinquish. Park is only the tenth player in Symetra Tour history to win three times in a given season.
In her junior days, Park played many IJGT events across the country winning three tournaments in 2006. She won at Duke University Golf Club, Crystal Springs Resort, and Architects Golf Club.
