The Symetra Tour handed out ten LPGA Tour cards for the 2016 season, following the conclusion of the Symetra Tour Championship. International Junior Golf Tour alumna Annie Park, of Levittown, N.Y., finished first on the money list and earned her LPGA Tour card for the 2016 season. For finishing first in the Volvik Race for the Card, Park earned Symetra Tour Player of the Year honors, and she collected Rookie of the Year honors as well.
“It means a lot to earn my card. It has been a lifelong dream to play on Tour and to finally get status is unbelievable. I still can’t believe that I got my card, but I’m going ot have to believe it next year.”
After joining in mid-June after her junior year at the University of Southern California, Park had a very successful year on the Symetra Tour. In her first professional event, The Four Winds Invitational, Park finished T19. The following month she captured her first win on tour at the Toyota Danielle Downey Classic. Two weeks later Park was at it again capturing the PHC Classic in a playoff victory of Lee Lopez. Her third win of the season came in early September when she won the Prairie Band Casino & Resort Charity Classic. Park is the only player in the top 10 that played in fewer than 15 events.
In her time on the International Junior Golf Tour, Annie Park was a very accomplished player. From 2005 – 2007 Park had 9 starts on the IJGT. In that time she racked up 8 top 10 finishes with wins at Duke University Golf Club, Crystal Springs Resort, and Architects Golf Club.
Park was not the only IJGT alumna to finish in the Top 10. Brianna Do of Lakewood, Calif., finished third in the Volvik Race for the Card to earn her 2016 LPGA card.
