The IJGT is proud to announce the return of the Discovery Tour in 2014. The Discovery Tour allows junior golfers aged 8-12 to experience what it is like to play in a junior tournament. The main goal for players of the Discovery Tour is to have fun! This tour allows golfers to play amazing golf courses with others of the same age group and skill set. Each stop on the tour will play a one day, 9-hole event and allow junior golfers to learn, have fun, and prepare themselves to play future competitive events.
“We are very excited to bring back this event again this year,” said IJGT Tour Director, Kyle Wolfe. “It is a great feeling to see juniors now on the IJGT, who got their start at the Discovery Tour.”
The Discovery Tour isn’t your normal golf tournament. As the IJGT is known for helping junior golfers with advance skills compete and dominate competitive junior golf, the Discovery Tour is a no-pressure alternative to normal IJGT events. It allows young golfers, with little or no experience, to get a feel for what it is like to play in a competitive tournament. This is a great opportunity for any child to play with their peers, sharpen their skills, and most importantly have fun.

The 2014 schedule will not disappoint. The following Discovery Tour Events have been announced:
March 15th, 2014 – Discovery Tour at Westfields Golf Club
April 12th, 2014 – Discovery Tour at the Architects Golf Club
April 12th, 2014 – Discovery Tour at Oldfield Golf Club
April 26th, 2014 – Discovery Tour at Palmetto Hall
May 17th, 2014 – Discovery Tour at Greate Bay Country Club
The tour has been very successful in years past. Discovery Tour players will play from the shortest tees possible, averaging from 2,000-2,500 yards per event. A 10-stroke limit has also been implemented to keep the event enjoyable. Additionally, members of the IJGT Discovery Tour will receive a bag tag, golf balls, profile on the IJGT website, and other prizes.
This is a great opportunity for junior golfers to play at some of golf’s top venues, learn the rules of tournament play, and meet others of the same age in a fun and competitive atmosphere.
