IJGT announces Spring 2016 Major Championships
The IJGT is excited to announce the Major Championships for the Spring 2016 Season. Competitors who compete in these Major Championships will receive DOUBLE MERIT POINTS towards the Tour Rankings, which increases opportunities to qualify for other Invitational events. At the end of the 2015-2016 season the top 10 players in the IJGT Tour Rankings will be named to the All-IJGT Team. Additionally, at these Major Championships, all players will receive a dozen golf balls AND a PUMA polo for their registration gifts. Here is a list of the Major Championships:
February 27-28 – Georgia Junior at Savannah Harbor
March 26-27 – New Jersey Major Championship at Royce Brook
May 7-8 – Northeast Tour Championship at Hershey Country Club
The Georgia Junior at Savannah Harbor is a 36-hole event featuring national rankings as well as guaranteed AJGA Performance Stars in the Boys 15-19 and Girls Divisions. The Club at Savannah Harbor was designed by Robert Cupp and Sam Snead. The Club at Savannah Harbor is use to hosting Major Championships as it served as the host for a Senior PGA (Champions Tour) event for many years. Each hole features its own legendary story and caters to golfers of varying abilities.
The New Jersey Major Championship at Royce Brook is a 36-hole event featuring national rankings as well as guaranteed AJGA Performance Stars in the Girls Division. The tournament will be conducted on the East Course, which is rated “Four Stars” by Golf Digest’s Places to Play, and is rated as one of GolfWeek’s “Top 10 Golf Courses” among public courses in the state of New Jersey. This will be the inaugural trip to Royce Brook for the IJGT.
The Northeast Tour Championship at Hershey Country Club is a 36-hole event featuring national rankings and guaranteed AJGA Performance Stars in the Boys 15-19, Girls, and Boys 14 & Under Division. The annual Mother’s Day event is the most popular in the Northeast as players from over six states will travel to be part of the inaugural IJGT Northeast Tour Championship. The Major Championship will be conducted on the East Course at Hershey Country Club, which was designed by George Fazio. The East Course has hosted several PGA tournaments, most recently the Nationwide Tour’s Reese’s Cup Classic, an event on professional golf’s development tour.
