IJGT Battle at Virginia Beach National

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C – The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) will conclude their Northeast Tour on Nov. 2-3 at Virginia Beach National GC in Virginia Beach, Va. The course will be hosting an IJGT Event for the first time. Top junior golfers from the Mid-Atlantic will be competing for IJGT Merit Points and national rankings.

Virginia Beach National opened in 1999 and was considered to be the premier public golf course in the Tidewater Area. The par-72 course was designed by famous architect Pete Dye, who was also assisted by PGA Tour Hall of Famer Curtis Strange. Five sets of tees allow golfers to play anywhere from 5,261 yards to 7,197 yards. Located within miles of the Atlantic Ocean, water comes into play on 11 of the course’s holes. Formerly known as TPC Virginia Beach, the course played host to the Nationwide Tour’s Virginia Beach Open from 2000-2006.

Christopher Chiminski of Penns Park, Pa., will look to earn his first win in his fourth career IJGT Event in the Boys 15-19 Division. Chiminski finished fifth at the Philly Open at Jeffersonville Golf Club, finishing with scores of 80-77-157. Like Chiminski, Sam Hecht of Oakton, Va., and Connor Jaenke of Arnold, Md., are in their first year of play with the IJGT, while Travis Broome of Virginia Beach, Va., will be making his season debut in his hometown.

In the Girls Division, Katie Edelblut of New Hope, Pa., looks to add to her IJGT victory total. Alexis Harris of Piscataway, N.J., and Madeline Sager of Kimberton, Pa., are both in their first year of play with the IJGT and look to upend Edelblut.

The Boys 14 & Under Division features three players making their IJGT debuts, with a fourth playing in his first season in that division.
