The IJGT Southeast Tour will remain local for the Junior World Qualifier at Golden Bear on May 2-3, 2015. Juniors will compete for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings and North American Junior Amateur exemptions during the two-day, 36-hole tournament. The event is also a qualifier for the IMG Academy Junior World Championships.
A Jack Nicklaus-designed par-72, the Golden Bear Golf Course offers five sets of tees ranging from 4,974 yards to 7,014 yards. The course’s signature fifth hole is a long par-4 dogleg with water on the left and a bunker between the water and the green.
The tournament field features a very competitive Boys 15-19 Division, which is highlighted by Shiso Go of Kanagawa, Japan, who will look to collect his fourth IJGT title of the season. Ritwik Jain of New Delhi, India, is coming off a win in the IJGT Oldfield Junior. Tennoshin Ogawa of Ichinomiya-shi, Japan, has two first-place finishes this season, but they both came in September. He will look for his first win of the spring at Golden Bear. Paul Terminello of White Plains, N.Y., is also seeking his first win of the spring; he won the IJGT Junior Open at Pelham Bay in October. Piyachad Yusabai will aim to collect his second win of the season after earning a victory at the Georgia Junior at Savannah Harbor in February. Masashi Yano and Kanata Irei are coming off third- and fourth-place finishes, respectively, in April’s IJGT Oldfield Junior.
In the Girls Division, Sera Tadokoro of Osaka, Japan, will also be competing for her fourth title of the season. Her most recent victory came against 23 competitors in December’s IJGA Invitational. Anna Eddy of Hilton Head Island, S.C., is coming off a fourth-place finish in the IJGT Oldfield Junior in April. She’ll look to break into the top three this weekend.
