IJGT standout wins big at Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex girls golf tournament

Since Allyson Wentworth of Stewartsville, N.J., began playing on the IJGT in 2012, her marked improvement has led to notable success. In addition to her 11 top-10 finishes in IJGT events, Wentworth has carried her success into her high school tournament play.

The Phillipsburg High School sophomore nabbed first at the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex girls golf tournament on May 21, 2014. The tri-county tournament was hosted at The Architect’s Club, a regular IJGT tournament venue. Wentworth finished in first by an impressive four strokes. With the help of two eagles, both on hole-outs from the fairway on No. 3 and No. 15, three birdies and eight pars, Wentworth posted a 2-under-par score of 69. She finished an impressive four strokes ahead of the competition.

LehighValleyLive.com quoted Wentworth saying, “We were having fun out there today…My attitude was good. My putting and chipping were good and my irons were accurate.”

Phillipsburg High School finished fourth with a collective score of 379.

Wentworth recently tied for second when the IJGT visited The Architect’s Club for The Architect’s Cup on April 12-13, 2014. Her first IJGT victory came at The Upstate Challenge at Locust Hill Country Club in September of 2013.

We congratulate Wentworth on her victory and wish her continued success in both IJGT and other golf events!
