Jared Mactas, former IJGT member and current freshman at Lafayette College, took home the title in his first collegiate competition, the Colgate Invitational, held Sept. 7-8. Carding a 1-under-par 215 (74-70-71), Mactas finished two shots ahead of second-place finisher, Bryce Edmister, of Binghampton University. His strong individual play also helped lead Lafayette to a T6-place finish out of the 14 college teams competing. This was a spectacular finish for Mactas who, after being tied for second place at even par heading into the final round on Sunday, fired a one-under 71 to pull away for the title.
Mactas was no stranger to the International Junior Golf Tour, competing in 13 events over the past three seasons. His most notable performance while being a tour member came at the Major Championship at Architects Golf Club Oct. 13-14, 2012 in Lopatcong, NJ where he placed first. His final 4-under 138 was a cool four shots ahead of all other competitors.
Lafayette will compete in the Bucknell Invitational Sept. 14-15 at the Bucknell Golf Club.
Congratulations, Jared! We look forward to seeing you succeed in many more events to come!
