Junior World Qualifier at Golden Bear – Round One Recap (May 2, 2015)

The IJGT Southeast Tour remained in Hilton Head Island, S.C., to host the Junior World Qualifier at Golden Bear. Juniors teed off in warm and sunny conditions beginning at 8 a.m. for round one of the two-day, 36-hole event. In review, below are each division’s leaders’ rounds, in numbers.

Colton Tanner of Westport, Conn., and Trey Wren of Suffolk, Va., are tied for the lead in the Boys 15-19 Division. Their rounds in numbers:


72 – His even-par round one score to share the lead

5 – He and Wren each carded a division-high five birdies

4.0 – His average on par-4s


3 – He carded a division-best three consecutive birdies on holes No. 2 through 4

5 – He carded five birdies on the front nine

33 – His 3-under score on the front nine

Jasmine Chee of Hong Kong, China, and Sophie Guo of Bluffton, S.C., share the lead in the Girls Division. Their rounds in numbers:


72 – Her even-par score to share the lead

10 – Her division-high 10-hole par-or-better streak came on holes No. 8 through 17

4.8 – Her average on par-5s


35 – She carded a 1-under 35 on the front nine

5 – She carded a division-best five birdies in round one

2.8 – Her average on par-3s

Bronson Myers of Columbia, S.C., leads the Boys 14 & Under Division. His round in numbers:

76 – His round one score to carry the lead

2 – His two birdies came on the par-3 fourth and par-5 18th holes

2.8 – His division-best average on par-3s
