Kim comes from behind to secure first IJGT title. Walker goes wire to wire to secure Girls Division Championship



Malvern, PA. – The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) traveled to Malvern, PA., to host the Philly Challenge at White Manor. Juniors competed in cold and overcast conditions for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings, AJGA stars, during the two day, 36 hole event.


Chris Lee, of West Nyak, NY came from behind to lock up first in the Boys 15-19 Division with scores of 78- 73 for a two day total of 151. Lee started out the final day six shots off the lead, but started hot on the cold and windy final day, with a birdie on the opening hole. His steady play continued throughout the day, shooting an even-par 35 on the front nine, and a two over 38 on the back.


When asked what his mindset was going into the final round chasing the leader, Lee said “my mindset was to go into today and go low, and take everything shot by shot.” Lee was also awarded the Clazic Belts low final around award, along with Hayden Rousselle, firing a final round 73. Brynn Walker took home the Clazic Belt award for the Girls Division carding a 76 on day two. The award given to the boy and girl junior(s) that shoots the lowest score on the final day of the event.


There was a three way tie for second place in the Boys 15-19 Division. In second place, with a two day total of 152 was Brendan Hansen, of Spring Lake, NJ, Hayden Rousselle, of New Hope PA and the first round leader, Patrick Sheehan, of Doylestown, NJ


Brynn Walker, of St. David, PA won the Girls Division with a two day total of eight over, 150. Walker started out the tournament with an impressive, three-over 74 on day one. The PA native carded two birdies on the day, along with a fantastic eagle on the long par 5, 11th hole. When asked about the tough conditions this week, Walker said “With the weather conditions this week, it was a grind and my putting was the strongest part of my game this week.” Walker followed up her strong first round, with a 76. For the tournament, Walker finished with an impressive 4 birdies and an eagle.
