The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) heads to the west coast for the Major Championship at Presidio Golf Course in San Francisco, Calif., on Feb. 1-2, 2014. Players will play 36 holes over the two-day tournament to compete for National Rankings and IJGT Merit Points.
Expanded to 18-holes in 1910, Presidio Golf Course is a notably “hilly” course featuring many bunkers and narrow fairways. The course was named a historic landmark in 1962 and has been open for public play since 1995. The par-72 course is located just a short distance from downtown San Francisco and features Eucalyptus and Monterey Pine trees characteristic of the area.
William Choi of Dublin, Calif., who placed first in the Boys 15-19 Division at the Pacific Coast Open at Half Moon Bay last November will look to contend again this year at Presidio.
Turning to the Boys 14 & Under Division, keep your eye on Grant Leppek of Rocklin, Calif. Having placed first in both the NorCal Junior at Darkhorse Golf Club last September and the Pacific Coast Open at Half Moon Bay in November, Leppek will look to garner another first-place finish to kick off 2014 play.
While most of the players in the Girls Division will look to make an impression with their first tournament play, the San Francisco native Samantha Gong will look to lead the pact after placing first in her last tournament in the Pacific Coast Open at Half Moon Bay.
