Forsgate boasts a number of awards including being mentioned on “The Met Area’s Top 50 Courses” by The Met Golfer in April 2007 and being named “2007 Club of the Year” by the NJ Chapter of National Golf Course Owners Association. The Banks course was built in 1931 and is named after its creator, Charles “Steamshovel” Banks. It is famous for its recessed bunkers and elevated greens.
The field of competitors at Forsgate is shaping up to be a good one. We have some returning IJGT players, as well as a lot of new members looking to start their season on the right foot.
In the Boys 15-19 Division, Jack Klein of Bethesda, M.D., will be one golfer to keep an eye on. Klein is coming off of a third place finish in the Sanctuary Shootout. Jake Niedosik of Lansdale, Pa., will be another competitor to follow throughout this tournament. Niedosik is coming off a third place finish at the IJGT Battle at Virginia Beach National. Sam Sawyers of New York, N.Y., and the field of new competitors will try and make their names known and be crowned champion at the Metropolitan Junior.
In the Girls Division, Jackie Rogiwicz of Yardley, Pa., will be playing her first IJGT Event this season. Rogiwicz has played with the IJGT in the past with great success. In 2012, she took first place at The Bridgestone Series at Penn Oaks CC and finished tied for second place at the Bridgestone Tournament of Champions, the IJGT’s marquee Event. Allyssa Schiera of West Windsor, N.J., is another player to watch. Schiera is coming off four top-10 finishes these past two seasons, most recently finishing tied for second place in the College Classic at Penn State University.
In the Boys 14 & Under Division, Ryan Pongrac of Freehold, N.J., will be hoping to raise the trophy at the Metropolitan Junior. Pongrac started out playing with the IJGT Discovery Tour during the 2012-2013 season, ending with two first place finishes on the Discovery Tour. For this current season, Pongrac has finished within the top-10 for all three of the Events he has entered. His best being second place at the South Jersey Open at Blue Heron Pines.
The field is full of great competitors. Make sure to secure your spot for the Metropolitan Junior at Forsgate Country Club today!
