NorCal Junior at Darkhorse Golf Club

The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) is traveling west for the NorCal Junior Sept. 21-22 at Darkhorse Golf Club in Auburn, CA.

Designed by well-renowned course architect Keith Foster, Darkhorse sits in the Sierra Nevada foothills on what used to be an 1,100-acre cattle ranch. The course is known for its many elevation changes, along with strategically placed bunkers and a course layout that presents a variety of shot making opportunities.

In the Boys 15-19 Division, Karl Beidle of Reno, NV., and Michael Bove of Truckee, CA., should be two of the top golfers in the division. Beidle will make his first tour appearance of the season after posting sixth-place and tied for tenth finishes in his two tour Events last season. Bove, who moving up from the Boys 14 & Under Division, finished tied for third at last season’s Golden Gate Junior at Presidio Golf Course.

Gurman Kaur (Elk Grove, CA.) and Trae Jones (Sparks, NV.) will battle things out in the Girls Division. Kaur tallied a ninth-place finish at last season’s Golden Gate Junior, while Jones finished right behind her in tenth-place.

The Boys 14 & Under Division could prove to be the most competitive, with three golfers all having posted high finishes in previous IJGT Events. Grant Leppek of Rocklin, CA., posted a win and two second-place finishes in four tour appearances last season, while Michael Tan of Carmichael, CA., won the Golden Gate Junior last season.

Cole Skach of Reno, NV., earned a third-place finish at last season’s Reno Junior at ArrowCreek.
