Pennsylvania Open at Nemacolin – Final Results (April 12, 2015)

Calamaro wins Boys 14 & Under Division by seven strokes

Morris wins Boys 15-19 Division by a single stroke

The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) traveled to Farmington, Pa., to host the Pennsylvania Open at Nemacolin on April 11-12, 2015. Juniors had the opportunity to play both the Links and Mystic Rock courses. They competed for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings and North American Junior Amateur exemptions during the two-day, 36-hole event.

Benjamin Morris of Reisterstown, Md., carded a 1-under 71 in round win to finish with a 148 tournament total, good for the win in the Boys 15-19 Division. He made par or better on the entire back nine in round two, including an eagle on the par-5 16th hole.

Said Morris of his eagle, “I hit a 3 wood off the tee and had about 250 left and I wanted to try to get it on the green. I hit it to about 20 feet and sunk the putt.”

Kyle Wensel of Wheeling, W. Va., finished in second with a 149 tournament total. Campbell Wolf of Enola, Pa., carded a 152 tournament total to finish in third.

Synclaire Kuhn of McMurray, Pa., recorded a 170 tournament total to win the Girls Division. She was very consistent carding 85s on both days. Putting was key for Kuhn. After the second round she said, “I putted well today. It saved me some today.”

Brooks Hilden of Veneita, Pa., finished second with a 180 tournament total.

Jake Calamaro of Newtown Square, Pa., ran away with the Boys 14 & Under Division, winning by seven strokes. He was tied for first after round one, but carded a division-best 76 in round two to earn sole possession of the lead.

“I hit the ball pretty well today,” Calamaro said after his win. “I hit some good drives and almost had an eagle.”

Luke Tercek of Johnstown, Pa., finished second with a 163 tournament total. Wexford, Pa., native James Meyers rounded out the division finishing third with a 169 tournament total.

The IJGT Northeast Tour will continue tournament play with the Architects Cup on April 18-19, 2015. To sign up for this event, or others, visit www.IJGT.com or call (843) 686-1500.
