The International Junior Golf Tour traveled to Savannah Harbor to host the Georgia Junior on Feb. 22-23, 2014. The tournament featured 89 players in a competitive field. Even though the course was hit by severe storms the day before Round 1, the players were unfazed by the conditions and continued to show their prowess during tournament play. Player of the Week honors go to Aaron Terrazas of Veracruz, Mexico, and Kayla Kozak of Bluffton, S.C.
Terrazas made his presence felt with two impressive rounds of 77 and 70. In wet course conditions, he managed to tally three birdies and nine pars during round 1. Terrazas finished second in the Boys 15-19 Division by having an exceptional second round which comprised of a total of four birdies and 12 pars. Terrazas hopes to continue his success in the weeks to come as he prepares for the Junior Invitational, the No. 1 ranked junior tournament according to Golfweek.
Kozak, playing in her second tournament of the season since winning at Colleton River, got off to a shaky start in round 1. She found herself in a three-way tie for sixth place and 11 strokes behind the leader, after posting a score of 81. Determined, Kozak was able to put the first round behind her. She carded five birdies and improved her score by 11 strokes in round two. Her score of 2-under-par 70 was tied for the tournament low across all divisions and earned her the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award. She finished the tournament with an overall score of 151, six strokes better than her previous IJGT best, and her fourth top-five finish in the 2013-2014 season.
