Laura Restrepo, former International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA) student and International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) member, was able to keep her winning streak alive this Fall with another first place overall finish at the Cardinal Cup on Sept. 16-17.
Representing the five-person team from the University of Louisville, the sophomore tallied a final 212 through three rounds, securing the win out of a field of 65 golfers from 13 competing universities. This 4-under-par performance, along with her teammates’ impressive finishes — Emily Haas tied for second and Katie Petrino tied for fourth — helped Louisville take the Cardinal Cup for the second year in a row.
Restrepo’s best round came in Round 1, where she sunk four birdies on the front nine to land a 5-under-par 67 — a new collegiate low for the young golfer. Her second round 2-under 70 helped give her the lead with a cool 137 with one round left to play. After bogeying holes #1 and #3 in the final round, Restrepo bounced back with three straight birdies on her way to a final 74, sealing the one-shot win for the tournament.
This is Restrepo’s second collegiate victory in as many events. She can be seen next at the Mercedes Benz Women’s Collegiate in Knoxville, Tenn. on Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
