St. John Golf and Fitness Open at Mendon – Final results (May 3, 2015)

Parker wins Girls Division by 13 strokes

Reichert wins Boys 15-19 Division by nine strokes

The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) Northeast Tour traveled to Mendon, N.Y., to host the St. John Golf and Fitness Open at Mendon on May 2-3, 2015. Juniors competed for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings and exemptions into the International Junior Masters and North American Junior Amateur during the two-day, 36-hole event.

Parker 1Victoria Parker knocked eight strokes off her round one 80 to card a 1-over 72 in the second round and finish with a 152 tournament total. Although she was in second place after the first round, she breezed to victory in the Girls Division, winning by 13 strokes. “I wanted to come out here and make a few errors as I could,” Parker said after the tournament. “My chipping is the strongest part of my game and it helped me this weekend.”

Parker’s second-round 72 earned her the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award, the award presented to the male and female juniors to card the lowest scores in the final round of an event. Third-place finisher Madison Braman carded three birdies to earn the  EyeLine Golf Golden Putter Award, the award presented to the junior to card the most birdies in each division. Braman recorded a 166 tournament total to finish a single stroke behind second-place finisher Sarah Godfrey-Singleton.

Reichert 1Ben Reichert carded a 1-over 72 in the first round and an even-par 71 in the second round to win the Boys 15-19 Division by nine strokes with a 143 tournament total. His round two 71 earned him the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award for the boys. Reichert birdied the par-5 sixth hole in both rounds and finished the tournament with five total birdies. He used three birdies to card a 2-under 33 on the front nine in the second round.

“I am happy I played well this weekend,” Reichert said after his victory. “I was a little rusty this winter so it was nice to come out here and play well.”

There was a three-way tie for second in the Boys 15-19 Division: Matt Dreimiller, Sean Dain and Danny Gianniny all finished with 152 tournament totals. William Gladstone carded six birdies to win the EyeLine Golf Golden Putter Award.

Buck 1In the Boys 14 & Under Division, TJ Buck walked away with a victory after carding a 155 tournament total.

“I wanted to come out here and stay positive and aggressive,” Buck said after the tournament. “I could have made a few more birdies, but I am happy with how I played this weekend.”

Jude Cummings finished second with a 159 tournament total. Jason Lohwater rounded out the Boys 14 & Under Division finishing third with a 162 tournament total.

The IJGT Northeast Tour will continue tournament play with the IJGA Junior Open at Hershey on May 9-10, 2015. To sign up for this event, or others, visit www.IJGT.com or call (843) 686-1500.
