Perrine knew that the title was in his control provided that he played the type of golf he was capable of playing. Even without his best game, Perrine was able to make 14 pars on the day to secure his first IJGT victory.

“I wanted to come into today and play the same way I did yesterday. I wanted to be loose and relaxed and not worry about the scoreboard,” commented Perrine.

Finishing in second place was Daniel Berkson of Scarsdale, N.Y., with a tournament total of 153. Dylan Plis of Camillus, N.Y., took home third place with a tournament score of 157.

In the Girls Division there was another first-time winner with Kaitlyn Lee of Scarsdale, N.Y., winning the Ben Shear Junior Golf Championship powered by BenShearGolf Junior Golf & Fitness Academy title. Lee recorded a tournament total of 161. In the first round, Lee made one birdie on her front nine en route to an 84, which gave her a very comfortable lead going into the final round.

Labor Day Classic at Hershey Country Club – Final Results

Minkin goes wire-to-wire at Hershey

Lee wins Girls Division in playoff

HERSHEY, Pa. – The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) kicked off the 2015 Fall Season with the Labor Day Classic on the East Course at Hershey Country Club. Junior golfers ages 10-19 years old and representing seven different states competed in the 36-hole tournament for IJGT Merit Points, AJGA Performance Stars, and National Rankings.

Gus Minkin of York, Pa., earned his first IJGT title with a stellar performance firing a tournament total of 145 to win the Boys 15-19 Division by four strokes. Minkin started off the tournament on a poor note, making double bogey on his opening hole, however, Minkin did not get rattled and kept his composure closing with a 2-over, 37 on his opening nine. He would remain 2-over-par the rest of the day finishing with a 73, and taking the first-round lead in the Boys 15-19 Division.

Minkin was mentally prepared for the final round and came out aggressive making seven pars and two birdies on the front nine. His 2-under, 34 gave him a four-stroke cushion going into the back nine. None of his fellow competitors were able to surmount a comeback, and Minkin ended the day with a 1-over, 72 to earn the title. His final round of 72 was the lowest in the tournament and earned him the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award, which goes to the boy and girl that record the lowest score in the final round of every IJGT tournament.

“My mindset was to come out and shoot even-par. I played solid. I did not make a lot of mistakes this week,” said Minkin.

Finishing in second place was Chris Tanabe of Sewickley, Pa., with a tournament total of 149. Jason Li, also of Sewickley, Pa., earned third place honors with a total score of 150.

36 holes were not enough to decide a champion in the Girls Division. After regulation, Julianne Lee of York, Pa., and Charlotte Simpson of Towson, Md., finished tied with tournament scores of 156. The playoff started on hole No. 16 at Hershey Country Club, where Lee and Simpson tied with bogeys. On the second playoff hole, Lee was able to get up and down for par to secure the victory, the first of her IJGT career.

Julianne Lee Trophy

Julianne Lee won the Girls Division at Hershey Country Club

Lee started the final round only one stroke back of Simpson after an opening round of 78. Lee put some pressure on Simpson early making two birdies in her front nine. At the turn Lee and Simpson were tied. Simpson grabbed control of the lead with a birdie on hole No. 14, but Lee was resilient and stayed calm making a par on her last hole to send it to the playoff.

The greens at Hershey Country Club were rolling very fast and troubled many of the competitors including Lee.

“My putting was not very good this week, but my iron play and driver made up for it,” said Lee.

Finishing in third place in the Girls Division was Samantha Fritzinger of Allentown, Pa., with a tournament total of 157 including a 76 in the final round which earned her the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award.

The Boys 14 & Under Division did not disappoint either with an exciting finish as well. Luke Sample of New York, N.Y., pulled ahead in the last two holes to claim the title finishing with a score of 153. Sample started off the Labor Day Classic with six straight pars and a 37 in his opening nine. The back nine was not his best showing, but Sample limited the damage finishing the day with a score of 80 to grab a share of the lead along with Junyoung Lee of York, Pa.

Sample was ready to go in the final round, starting his round off with a birdie on the opening hole. He would finish with a 37 on the front nine to take a two-stroke lead going into the final nine holes. Jake Roach of East Aurora, N.Y., was only two strokes back and after making birdie on hole No. 13, he momentarily tied Sample for the lead. Sample stayed composed and was able to finish with two pars and a great score of 2-over, 73 for the final round. This was Sample’s third win in the Boys 14 & Under Division and the first of the 2015-2016 season.

“I wanted to come out and shoot a good number and see what the rest of the field did, and it worked for me,” commented Sample.

Roach ended the tournament in second place with a tournament total of 156. Lee finished in third place with a tournament score of 167.

Summer Series at Hartefeld National – Final Results

Bradbeer wins IJGT title with final-round 71

Perine wins Girls Division in dominant fashion

AVONDALE, Pa. – The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) continued its summer tournament schedule in Avondale, Pa., on July 28-29, 2015, with the Summer Series at Hartefeld National. Weather conditions were ideal for scoring on the challenging Tom Fazio design. Junior golfers ages 10-18 years old and representing 6 different states competed for IJGT Merit Points along with National Rankings.

J.B. Bradbeer of Rosemont, Pa., ended his IJGT career in style collecting a come-from-behind victory in the Boys 15-19 Division. On the first day, Bradbeer got off to a slow start shooting 40 on his front nine. He was able to turn things around for good making nine straight pars to finish with a 4-over 76 leaving him in a tie for second place going into the final round.

Things started off just how they finished the day before with Bradbeer playing his first six holes in 2-under. He would make the turn at even-par 36 to take the lead. Bradbeer had to keep his foot on the pedal though, as first-round leader Richard Riva III of Lancaster, Pa., caught fire on the back nine shooting a 2-under 34. Bradbeer was able to hold off Riva, due in part to an eagle that Bradbeer made on hole No. 13. This was the decisive moment of the tournament that gave Bradbeer the momentum to finish with a 1-under 71, and earn a one-stroke victory over Riva.

“I hit driver, 2-iron and made the 30 foot putt for eagle. It was at that point where I knew I had a chance to win,” said Bradbeer

Bradbeer’s round of 71 was the lowest score of the tournament and also earned him the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award, which goes to the boy and girl who records the lowest final-round score in every IJGT tournament.

Riva earned second place with a tournament total of 148, while Cole Berger of Malvern, Pa., placed third with a total score of 150.

In the Girls Division, Sarah Perine of Staten Island, N.Y., put together two solid rounds on a difficult golf course to earn the title. She finished the event with a tournament total of 159 to collect her first IJGT title. Perine made 12 pars in her opening round of 79. She added 10 more pars during the final round and avoided any large numbers that would have put her lead in jeopardy. Perine was very consistent over the course of the tournament making nothing worse than a double bogey. She also made eight pars in a row at one point during the tournament.

“I loved the course. You had to hit it straight to play well here,” commented Perine.

Perine’s final-round score of 80 earned her the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award.

Kelli Anderson of Staten Island, N.Y., finished in second place with a tournament total of 189. Georgia Naples of West Chester, Pa., took home the third place trophy after finishing with a total score of 192.

Andrew Wallace of Narberth, Pa., won the Boys 14 & Under Division with a tournament total of 157. Wallace played solid golf all tournament making five birdies in total. He built himself a good lead after the first round, but Wallace knew he would need his A-game in the final round to win the tournament. He definitely had it as he got off to a blazing start making two birdies in his front nine to make the turn at 1-over 37. From there Wallace never looked back and was able to finish with a 77 to earn the title.

“I made a bunch of double bogeys yesterday and I wanted to come out today and eliminate those holes,” said Wallace.

Andrew Curran of Media, Pa., finished in second place with a tournament total of 161 including a 2-over 74 in the final round, which was the lowest score in all of the Boys 14 & Under Division during the event. Matt Barkann of Newtown Square, Pa., finished in third place with a tournament total of 166.

Summer Series at Fiddler’s Elbow – Final Results

Rand wins first IJGT title behind 6-under 65

Kweon wins Girls Division in comeback fashion

BEDMINSTER, N.J. – The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) held its third event of the Summer Series this week. Hosted at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club on the Meadow Course, the 36-hole tournament featured 60 players ages 10-18 from six different states. National Rankings, IJGT Merit Points, and AJGA Performance Stars were up for grabs. Weather conditions were near ideal with temperatures in the 80’s both days without much wind.

Will Rand of New York, N.Y., earned the victory in the Boys 15-19 Division finishing with a tournament total of 2-under 140. Rand put together the round of the year on the IJGT with his 6-under 65 during the first round of play at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club. He made seven birdies on the day including three in a row to finish his round. Rand’s first-round score gave him a six-stroke lead heading into the final round.

The final round was not as strong for Rand, but he still managed to put together a solid performance with a 4-over-75 and earn himself a five-stroke victory over runner-up George Cultraro of Wyckoff, N.J. It was never really close in the final round as Rand played his first 15 holes in 1-over. This was Rand’s first IJGT tournament victory.

“This was my first win a two-day event. It feels great and I hope to build off of it,” commented Rand.

Cultraro finished the event in second place with a tournament total of 145. Finishing in a tie for third place were Thomas Urciuoli of Short Hills, N.J., and Dustin Cook of Westport, Conn., with tournament totals of 148.

Noah Harrington of Ambler, Pa., won the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award with his even-par 71 on the last day. This award goes to the boy and girl who record the lowest final-round score in every IJGT tournament.

In the Girls Division, Jessie Kweon of Little Neck, N.Y., also won her first IJGT title finishing the event with a tournament total of 152. Kweon put herself in good position after a 78 in the first round. Although she only made five pars, Kweon also added an eagle and three birdies in her first round.

Summer Series at Stafford Country Club – Final Results

Barney wins first IJGT title in Boys 15-19 Division

Penn captures Girls Division crown in last IJGT event

STAFFORD, N.Y. – The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) continued its summer tournament schedule in Stafford, N.Y., on July 9-10, 2015, with the Summer Series at Stafford Country Club. It was a tale of two days with the weather conditions during the event. The first round featured a consistent rain, while the final round featured near perfect temperatures and sunshine. Junior golfers ranging in age from 14-18 years old and representing 3 different states competed for IJGT Merit Points along with National Rankings.

In the Boys 15-19 Division, Nick Barney, of Apalachin, N.Y., earned his first IJGT title after carding two consistent rounds of 4-over 76 and 3-over 75. The weather was very challenging on the first day with constant rain coming down during the duration of the round. Barney was able to keep his mental composure as he managed his way around the golf course. Finishing the day with a 4-over 76, Barney found himself tied in first place with David Hanes of Elma, N.Y. The highlight of Barney’s round came on hole No. 15, where he was able to make an eagle.

The final round got off to a slow start as Barney made bogey on the opening three holes at Stafford Country Club. However, he quickly bounced back with a string of five pars and one birdie to close out the front nine with a 2-over 38. He continued his hot play on the first six holes on the back nine, playing them in 1-under. Barney would finish his round of 3-over 75 en route to his three-stroke victory.

“I just wanted to go out and post a good score and it ended up working for me,” commented Barney when asked about his mindset going into the final round with the lead.

There was a tie for second place with Ian Brotherton of Attica, N.Y., and Ryan Zogby of New Hartford, N.Y., who finished with tournament totals of 154. Zogby’s final-round 2-over 74 earned him the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award, which goes to the boy and girl who records the lowest final-round score in every IJGT tournament.

The Girls Division was won in wire-to-wire fashion by Marah Penn of Hamburg, N.Y., who recorded tournament scores of 77 and 3-over 75 for her victory. Penn, a 2015 graduate and incoming freshmen on the Elon University Women’s Golf team, battled the conditions in the first round building herself a four-stroke lead going into the final round.

Playing in her last IJGT round, Penn noted, “I just went into today wanting to have fun and I got to play with a really good friend.”

Marissa Del Monaco of Little Valley, N.Y., recorded a tournament total of 161 to earn herself second place. Third place was won by Sarah Godfrey-Singleton of Depew, N.Y. who posted a tournament total of 162.
