Listed as one of the “Best Places to Play” in 2008-09, the Arthur Hills-designed course is guaranteed to feature towering pines, moss-draped oaks, lush fairways, and rolling greens edged with strategically-placed bunkers.
Competing for National Rankings and IJGT Merit Points, the field will feature some of the tour’s best junior golfers in all divisions.
In the Boys 15-19 Division, Norman Hong, the reigning Player of the Week after his performance at the Sanctuary Shootout on Sept. 28-29,will be making his fifth appearance this season. After his second straight Top-10 finish at Sanctuary, Hong of Shenzhen, China, will be competing for his first win. Also competing will be Luigi D’Amico of Forli, Italy. This will be D’Amico’s sixth event this season after a fourth place finish at the Lowcountry Open at Oldfield and a third place finish at the IJGT Junior at Hilton Head National.
In the Boys 14 & Under Division, Luis Sanchez from Xalapa, Mexico, and Jackson Skeen from Johnson City, Tenn., will be players to watch. Sanchez will attempt to earn his first win after notably improving in the three events he has played so far this season, placing sixth, fourth, and second, all in succession. This will be the sixth event of the season for Skeen, after most recently cracking the Top-5 in the Aiken Junior Open at Woodside Plantation.
In an exciting battle for first place, the Girls Division will feature the likes of Samantha Huang of Shenzhen, China, and Maggie Ashmore of Kingston, Ga. Both have played tremendously this season and this is sure to be a matchup to keep your eyes at the two-day event. Huang is coming off a fresh win at the Sanctuary Shootout at Cat Island, after tying for second place at the Aiken Junior Open. Ashmore, who was runner-up to Huang at Sanctuary, is playing in her fourth event and will be looking for her first win this season. She has placed Top-3 in every event so far.
