Sarah Perine is featured in the IJGT Photo of the Week

The IJGT made its way to Avondale, Pa., for the Summer Series at Hartefeld National. Juniors battled hot and humid weather conditions both days of the competition while competing for national rankings. Following the tournament, a photo of Sarah Perine of Staten Island, N.Y., was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week.

Sarah Perine had a great start the first day of the tournament as she shot 7-over, 79. She held onto the lead throughout the second day of competition, where she eventually won first place in the Girls Division. She was awarded the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award in the Girls Division by shooting an 80. This award goes to the boy and girl who record the lowest final-round score in every IJGT tournament.

Barnes Blake is featured in the IJGT Photo of the Week

Last week, the IJGT made its way to Bedminster, N.J., for the Summer Series at Fiddler’s Elbow. Juniors had great weather conditions on the Meadow Course both days of the competition while competing for national rankings. Following the tournament, a photo of Barnes Blake of Westfield, N.J., was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week.

Blake, at only 10 years of age, was the youngest player in the field for this event. Going into the second day of the tournament, he bettered his score by two strokes, where he placed third for the Boys 14 & Under Division.

Sky Fox is featured in the IJGT Photo of the Week

The IJGT kicked off its summer tournaments with the Summer Series at Olde Stonewall in Ellwood City, Pa. Although day one of the two-day, 36-hole event included a rain delay, the area’s top juniors finished out strong competing for IJGT Merit Points and national rankings.

Following the tournament, a photo of Sky Fox of Beaver Falls, Pa., was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week.

The eventual winner of the Boys 14 & Under Division, Fox, had a terrific opening round of 71 followed by a 74 for his final round. This particular shot comes from the 11th hole, where Fox drained the putt for birdie in his opening round.

Cronin featured in IJGT Photo of the Week

The IJGT traveled to Orlando, Fla., to host the Bridgestone Golf Tournament of Champions on May 23-25, 2015. Juniors competed in warm and sunny conditions for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings, AJGA stars and exemptions into a variety of exciting tournaments during the three-day, 54-hole event. Following the tournament, a photo of James Cronin of Dublin, Ireland, was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week.

Cronin played the East/North Course in rounds one and three and the New Course in round two. He shot a 5-over 77 in the second round. Cronin carded back-to-back birdies in the third round on the par-4 10th and par-5 11th holes. He finished the tournament with a 241 three-day total, landing him in a tie for 30th in the Boys 15-19 Division.

Okada, Simpson featured in IJGT Photos of the Week (May 14, 2015)

Northeast Tour

The IJGT Northeast Tour traveled to Hershey, Pa., to host the IJGA Junior Open at Hershey Country Club on May 9-10, 2015. Juniors competed for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings, AJGA stars and North American Junior Amateur exemptions during the two-day, 36-hole event. Following the tournament, a photo of Towson, Md., native Charlotte Simpson was selected as the IJGT Northeast Tour’s Photo of the Week.

Simpson shot 82 on both days to finish with a 164 tournament total, good for the Girls Division title. The victory was Simpson’s first on the IJGT. She tied for third in April’s Major Championship at Bulle Rock.

Southeast Tour

The IJGT Southeast Tour traveled down to Florida to host the BGGA Orlando Open at Lake Buena Vista on May 9-10, 2015. Juniors competed in warm and sunny conditions for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings and North American Junior Amateur exemptions during the two-day, 36-hole event. Following the tournament, a photo of Tokyo, Japan, native Daiki Okada was selected as the IJGT Southeast Tour’s Photo of the Week.

Okada recorded a 163 tournament total to tie for 26th place in the Boys 15-19 Division. He carded five birdies during the tournament. This is Okada’s fourth season competing on the IJGT.

IJGT Photos of the Week – May 7, 2015

Northeast Tour

Last weekend, May 2-3, 2015, the IJGT Northeast Tour traveled to Mendon, N.Y., to host the St. John Golf & Fitness Open at Mendon Golf Club. Juniors competed for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings and exemptions into the International Junior Masters and North American Junior Amateur during the two-day, 36-hole event.

Following the tournament, a photo of all of the winners was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week for the Northeast Tour.

Southeast Tour

The IJGT Southeast Tour remained local to host the Junior World Qualifier at Golden Bear on May 2-3, 2015. Juniors played in warm and sunny, picture-perfect conditions during the two-day, 36-hole event. They were competing for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings and exemptions into the IMG Academy Junior World Championships and the North American Junior Amateur.

Following the tournament, a photo of Jasmine Chee of Hong Kong, China, was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week for the Southeast Tour. Chee carded an even-par 72 in the first round to tie for the early lead. She recorded a 4-over 76 in round two to finish with a 148 tournament total, good for second place in the Girls Division. Chee made par or better on every hole but one on the back nine in the first round. She had three birdies in round one on the par-5 second and ninth holes and par-4 10th hole.

IJGT Photos of the Week – April 30, 2015

Last weekend, April 25-26, 2015, the IJGT Northeast Tour traveled to Havre de Grace, Md., to host the Major Championship at Bulle Rock while the IJGT Southeast Tour remained in Hilton Head Island, S.C., to host the IJGT Island Open at Palmetto Hall. Juniors competed for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings and North American Junior Amateur exemptions during the two-day, 36-hole events.

Following the tournaments, a photo of Aidan McCloskey of Northborough, Mass., and a photo of Jennifer Cleary of Wilmington, Del., were selected as the IJGT Photos of the Week.

The Boys 14 & Under Division champion at Palmetto Hall, McCloskey carded a 78 in round one and an 85 in round two to finish with a 163 tournament total. His division-best six-hole par-or-better streak lasted from holes No. 3 through 8 in round one. The victory was McCloskey’s second consecutive IJGT win; he finished first in the IJGT Oldfield Junior earlier this month.

Cleary carded five birdies during the Major Championship at Bulle Rock to earn the EyeLine Golf Golden Putter award for the Girls Division. Her 172 tournament total landed her in fifth place. She found the most success on the par-5 second hole and the par-4 14th hole, both of which she birdied in both rounds.

Muhlbauer featured in IJGT Photo of the Week – April 23, 2015

The IJGT Northeast Tour traveled to Lopatcong, N.J., to host The Architects Cup on April 18-19, 2015. Juniors competed for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings, AJGA stars and North American Junior Amateur exemptions during the two-day, 36-hole event. Following the tournament, a photo of Lauren Muhlbauer of Newtown, Pa., was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week.

Muhlbauer knocked seven strokes off her round one 87 to card an 80 in round two, good for a 167 tournament total. Both of her birdies came on par-4s: the 14th hole in round one and the seventh hole in round two.

Gianelos featured in IJGT Photo of the Week – April 9, 2015

The IJGT Northeast Tour spent Easter weekend in Somers Point, N.J., where they hosted the Jersey Shootout at Greate Bay Country Club on April 4-5, 2015. During the two-day, 36-hole event, juniors competed for IJGT Merit Points and national rankings. The tournament also offered exemptions into the North American Junior Amateur and was a qualifier for the IMG Academy Junior World Championships. Following the tournament, a photo of Nicholas Gianelos was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week.

Gianelos carded a 167 tournament total to finish ninth in the Boys 15-19 Division of the Jersey Shootout. He made par on both par-5s in both rounds.
