Northeast Tour

The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) held two events at the Hershey Links Golf Club in Hummelstown, Pa., on Oct. 26-27 as a part of its penultimate Northeast Tour stop for the Fall 2013 season.

Paying homage to a course that is set to be closed on Nov. 2, 2013, The Final Challenge at Hershey Links and the Discovery Tour at Hershey Links were two spectacular events to wrap up was has become a common venue for past IJGT outings.

The Photo of the Week for the Final Challenge at Hershey Links goes to Mike Bliss of Newtown, Pa., who finished the tournament tied for tenth place. Competing in his third season with the IJGT and second as a member of the Boys 15-19 Division, this was his fourth top ten performance in the past two seasons.

Our second Photo of the Week for the Northeast Tour goes to the top five boys finishers of the Discovery Tour at Hershey LinksFrom left to right are: Derek Mcglaughlin of Elizabethtown, Pa.; Logan Paczewski of Dallas, Pa.; Dustin Stocksdale of Ellicott City, Md.; Jay Colella of Marcellus, N.Y.; and Ben Galko of Roaring Brook Township, Pa.

Paczewski won the event by 7 strokes for his first victory in three tries at the same event. He placed fourth in his first visit last year on Oct. 27, 2012, and came in second in his most recent visit on April 6, 2013. Mcglaughlin finished in second place to improve upon his sixth place finish at the last Discovery Tour at Hershey Links on April 6.

There was a three-way tie for third place, with StocksdaleColella and Galko all shooting a final 48, just two strokes behind Mcglaughlin. This was the first career event for Galko, the second for Stocksdale and the third for Colella.

Discovery Tour at Hershey Links – Final Results

The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) hosted its second Discovery Tour Event of the season in the Northeast on Oct. 26. The tournament was hosted by Hershey Links in Hummelstown, Pa. The nine-hole Event featured players ages 8-11. Throughout the day, cold and windy conditions were present.

Discovery Tour at Hershey Links 004In the Boys Division, Logan Paczewski of Dallas Pa., was victorious after firing a 3-over-par 39. Paczewski got off to a rough start with a bogey on No. 10 and a double-bogey on No. 11 to sit at 3-over-par through two holes. He found his groove after the double-bogey, stringing together seven consecutive pars to finish his round. Derek Mcglaughlin of Elizabethtown, Pa., finished second with a score of 46. Mcglaughlin’s round was highlighted by two pars to start the day. Dustin Stocksdale of Ellicott City, Md., Ben Galko of Roaring Brook Township, Pa., and Jay Colella of Marcellus, N.Y., all finished in a tie for third with a score of 48.

Discovery Tour at Hershey Links 001In the Girls Division, Elizabeth Beek of Blue Bell, Pa., won her second Discovery Tour Event of the season following up her victory at the Discovery Tour at Blue Heron Pines. Beek carded a 43, including a birdie on the par-3 13th. Along with her birdie, Beek made pars on holes Nos. 11, 14, 15 and 18. Rylie Heflin of Avondale, Pa., finished second, two strokes behind Beek. Heflin’s round was highlighted by a birdie on the 13th, coming only feet away from a hole-in-one.
