The IJGT’s Northeast Tour headed to Hartefeld National to host the second Major Championship of the 2014 season. Gusts of winds reached 35 mph in round one, but Mother Nature made up for it with ideal golf conditions during the final round with temperatures in the 60s. With a very strong field of competitors, many golfers came out to compete in this event. This week’s Photo of the Week honors for the Northeast go to Robert Piluso of Ridgewood, N.J.
This event was Piluso’s third IJGT event this season and his best finish this season as well. Piluso finished tied for 13th in a very strong field of competitors. In round one, he shot a score of 82. Piluso made 10 pars in round one, including a stretch of six pars in a row to close out his front nine. In the final round, he improved his score by two strokes and finished with numbers of 82-80–162 overall. Piluso made two birdies in the final round, both of them coming on the par-5 holes on his back nine. We want to congratulate Piluso on his T13 finish in the Major Championship at Hartefeld National and also winning Photo of the Week honors for this week. We hope to see more of Piluso at upcoming IJGT events this season.
In the Southeast, the IJGT hosted The College Classic at Washington Duke Golf Club. Favorable spring weather with temperatures in the 60s made for ideal playing conditions at a golf course rich in history. The Photo of the Week honors in the Southeast go to Nikita Arjun of Bangalore, India and Luigi D’Amico of Forli, Italy.
D’Amico and Arjun both earned the Clazic Beltz Low Final Round Award. This award goes to the golfer who shoots the lowest score during the final round. D’Amico’s posted a score of 76 during the final round while Arjun posted a score of 78. D’Amico had four birdies in the final round which led him to win his first IJGT event this season. Arjun made par at 12 holes and won her division by one stroke. Congratulations to D’Amico and Arjun on a great weekend and winning the Photo of the Week honors this week in the Southeast.
