Opened in 1957, the Duke University Golf Course is the only Robert Trent Jones-designed course in the region. It was redesigned by Jones’ son, Rees, in 1994 and hosted the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship in 2001.

Links Magazine rated the Duke University Golf Course No. 12 on its list of the Top 25 College Courses. The Major Championship at Duke University provides the perfect opportunity for aspiring college golfers to play one of the best college courses in the country and visit Duke University and nearby colleges like the University of North Carolina while they’re in the area.

Yong Sherng Hui of Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, tops the list of players to watch in the Boys 15-19 Division. Hui is coming off a dramatic four-hole playoff victory in the IJGT Junior at Palmetto Dunes earlier this month. He just edged out St. Brelade, Jersey, native Jason Stokes, who will also be competing in the Major Championship at Duke. Also keep an eye out for Anthony Cordaro of Pittsburgh, Pa., who tied for ninth in last year’s IJGT event at Duke.

Timonium, Md., native Jack Halleron won the Boys 14 & Under Division of the IJGT event at Duke last season and will look to repeat this year. He finished first in his last IJGT event this season, the Major Championship at Outdoor Country Club. Thomas Pfoestl of Schenna, Italy, is seeking his fourth IJGT victory this season and is coming off back-to-back wins in the Carolina Classic at Colleton River and the South Carolina Open at Kiawah Island. Elmsford, N.Y., native Matthew Minerva Jr. and Ayushman Jaiswal of Bangalore, India, are both looking for their second IJGT victories of the season in the Boys 14 & Under Division.

In the Girls Division, Farmington, Conn., native Kelly Whaley has been victorious in all three IJGT events she’s played this season and will look to continue her winning streak at Duke. The UNC commit finished second in the IJGT event at Duke two years ago. Martina Gerbelova of Bratislava, Slovakia, has to top-five finishes this season and will look to break into the winner’s circle at Duke.
