Niedosik, May nab Player of the Week honors – March 29-30, 2014

Monroe Township, N.J. – For the third Northeast event of the Spring season, the IJGT travelled to New Jersey to conduct the Metropolitan Junior at Forsgate March 29-30, 2014. Forsgate Country Club is a new venue to the IJGT, and the staff there could not have been more helpful and welcoming. The tournament participants were excited to take on the challenging Banks Course, which is characterized by deep recessed bunkers and unique green complexes. Players had to battle a persistent rain from start to finish of their rounds, that eventually lead to the final round of the tournament being cancelled. Undeterred by the poor conditions, Jake Niedosik, of Lansdale, Pa., and Lindsay May, of Auburn, N.Y., played outstanding golf, earning themselves Player of the Week honors.

Jake NiedosikNiedosik, who is in his first year with the IJGT, adds a second top three finish after four tournaments with a strong showing at Forsgate Country Club; he had previously finished in third place at his first IJGT tournament at Virginia Beach National in November. Niedosik got off to a hot start during his round, carding nine pars over his first ten holes. He was able to manage the steady wind and rains, avoiding any scores over bogey. Scoring 37 on the front nine and 39 on the back nine, Niedosik’s consistent play and overall score of 76 landed him in second place, his best career IJGT finish thus far. He will look to continue his impressive start at the Major Championship at Hartefeld National April 5-6 and at the Bridgestone Golf Tournament of Champions May 24-26, 2014.

Lindsay MayMay continued her Spring season, after also playing in the Philly Challenge at White Manor last weekend, by setting two new personal bests, despite tough conditions. She bested her previous low score by four strokes and her second place finish is the highest of her career. A highlight of her round came on the 134 yard par-3 at hole number 12, which she birdied. There was only one other birdie on that hole and only two other birdies in the Girls Division during the tournament. Her final score of 83 left her in second place after a scorecard playoff with Yeji Shin. We wish May continued success throughout the rest of the season and hope to see her again soon.
