Barnes Blake is featured in the IJGT Photo of the Week

Last week, the IJGT made its way to Bedminster, N.J., for the Summer Series at Fiddler’s Elbow. Juniors had great weather conditions on the Meadow Course both days of the competition while competing for national rankings. Following the tournament, a photo of Barnes Blake of Westfield, N.J., was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week.

Blake, at only 10 years of age, was the youngest player in the field for this event. Going into the second day of the tournament, he bettered his score by two strokes, where he placed third for the Boys 14 & Under Division.

Cronin featured in IJGT Photo of the Week

The IJGT traveled to Orlando, Fla., to host the Bridgestone Golf Tournament of Champions on May 23-25, 2015. Juniors competed in warm and sunny conditions for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings, AJGA stars and exemptions into a variety of exciting tournaments during the three-day, 54-hole event. Following the tournament, a photo of James Cronin of Dublin, Ireland, was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week.

Cronin played the East/North Course in rounds one and three and the New Course in round two. He shot a 5-over 77 in the second round. Cronin carded back-to-back birdies in the third round on the par-4 10th and par-5 11th holes. He finished the tournament with a 241 three-day total, landing him in a tie for 30th in the Boys 15-19 Division.

Muhlbauer featured in IJGT Photo of the Week – April 23, 2015

The IJGT Northeast Tour traveled to Lopatcong, N.J., to host The Architects Cup on April 18-19, 2015. Juniors competed for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings, AJGA stars and North American Junior Amateur exemptions during the two-day, 36-hole event. Following the tournament, a photo of Lauren Muhlbauer of Newtown, Pa., was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week.

Muhlbauer knocked seven strokes off her round one 87 to card an 80 in round two, good for a 167 tournament total. Both of her birdies came on par-4s: the 14th hole in round one and the seventh hole in round two.

The IJGT Northeast Tour traveled to Farmington, Pa., to host the Pennsylvania Open at Nemacolin while the IJGT Southeast Tour traveled to Okatie, S.C., to host the Oldfield Junior on April 11-12, 2015. Following the tournaments, the following photos were selected as the IJGT Photos of the Week.

Gianelos featured in IJGT Photo of the Week – April 9, 2015

The IJGT Northeast Tour spent Easter weekend in Somers Point, N.J., where they hosted the Jersey Shootout at Greate Bay Country Club on April 4-5, 2015. During the two-day, 36-hole event, juniors competed for IJGT Merit Points and national rankings. The tournament also offered exemptions into the North American Junior Amateur and was a qualifier for the IMG Academy Junior World Championships. Following the tournament, a photo of Nicholas Gianelos was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week.

Gianelos carded a 167 tournament total to finish ninth in the Boys 15-19 Division of the Jersey Shootout. He made par on both par-5s in both rounds.

Brown, Chowdary and Shaffer featured in IJGT Photos of the Week – April 2, 2015

The IJGT hosted two tournaments on March 28-29, 2015. The Northeast Tour traveled to Monroe Township, N.J., to host the Metropolitan Junior at Forsgate Country Club. The Southeast Tour journeyed up to Durham, N.C., to host the Major Championship at Duke University. Juniors in both tournaments braved cold weather while competing for IJGT Merit Points, national rankings and North American Junior Amateur exemptions during the two-day, 36-hole events.

This week’s IJGT Photo of the Week for the north features Tiya Chowdary (above) of Montgomery, N.J. Chowdary knocked 11 strokes off her round one score of 92 to fire an 81 in round two. Competing in her first IJGT event, the 12-year-old carded a 173 tournament total, which landed her in a tie for fifth place in the Girls Division of the Metropolitan Junior.

There was a two-way tie for the Southeast Photo of the Week. Chadds Ford, Pa., native Evan Brown (left), a regular on the International Junior Golf Tour, carded two birdies in the second round of the Major Championship at Duke University on the par-5 ninth and par-4 16th holes. He finished with a 177 tournament total, good for a piece of 17th place.

Fayetteville, Pa., native Jordan Shaffer (right) finished just one stroke behind Brown with a 178 tournament total, which tied him for 19th. Shaffer birdied the par-4 sixth hole in round one and the par-5 ninth hole in round two. He knocked 18 strokes off his round one 98 to card an 80 in the second round.

Dominic Wagner featured in IJGT Photo of the Week –March 19, 2015

The IJGT’s Northeast Tour traveled to Lorton, Va., to host the IJGT Battle at Laurel Hill on March 14-15, 2015. Juniors braved rain and wind while competing for IJGT Merit Points and national rankings during the two-day, 36-hole event.

After the tournament, a photo of the Boys 15-19 Division champion, Dominic Wagner of Alexandria, Va., was selected as the IJGT Photo of the Week. Wagner birdied the final hole in round two to win his division by a single stroke. His round two score of 78 also earned him the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award, the award presented to the male and female junior to card the lowest score in the final round of the event. To read more about Wagner’s exciting victory click here.

Ritwik Jain featured in IJGT Photo of the Week – March 5, 2015

The IJGT returned to Hilton Head Island, S.C., to host the IJGT Junior at Palmetto Dunes on February 28-March 1, 2015. Cold temperatures, sporadic wind gusts and persistent rain in round two created challenging conditions for the junior golfers competing in the two-day, 36-hole event. But, the players overcame the weather to compete for IJGT Merit Points and national rankings while playing the par-70 George Fazio course.

After the event, a photo of Ritwik Jain of New Delhi, India, was chosen as the IJGT Photo of the Week. Jain shot a 75 in round one to lead the Boys 15-19 Division by a single stroke. He made par on eight of nine holes on the back nine in round one. Jain finished with a tournament total of 156, landing him in a three-way tie for 10th place.

Lee Hammerschmidt featured in IJGT Photo of the Week – Feb. 26, 2015

The IJGT traveled to Savannah, Ga., to host the Georgia Junior at Savannah Harbor on February 21-22, 2015. The two-day, 36-hole event was filled with action as both rounds began with a shotgun start.

After the event, a photo of Lee Hammerschmidt was chosen as this week’s IJGT Photo of the Week. Hammerschmidt started round one on the 12th hole and round two on the 13th hole. He made par on holes No. 1 through 5 in round one and carded two birdies in each round. His tournament total of 155 landed him in a tie for 17th place.

Devin Gregg featured in IJGT Photo of the Week – Feb. 12, 2015

Last weekend, the IJGT traveled west to host its MAJOR Championship at Presidio Golf Club on February 7, 2015. Due to inclement weather, the tournament was shortened to an 18-hole one-day event where juniors competed for IJGT Merit Points and national rankings.

The weather may have shortened the tournament, but did not dampen the focus of junior Devin Gregg of San Anselmo, Calif., who is featured in this week’s IJGT Photo of the Week.

Gregg used his laser-like focus to his advantage, making birdie on both the par-4 fifth and 16th holes to finish in second in the Boys 15 – 19 Division, just one stroke behind winner Drew Karren of Orinda, Calif. Two birdies tied for the most in the round for his division. The Major Championship at Presidio Golf Course was Gregg’s first ever IJGT tournament appearance.
