Web.com Q-School

The Web.com Tour hosted Q-School this past weekend, December 10-13. The tournament was held at PGA National on the Champion Course and Fazio Course in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Roughly 1,000 entries for the tournament competed for 50 Web.com Tour cards. The International Junior Golf Tour had 3 alumni earn their 2016 Web.com Tour card.

 Dominic Bozzelli shot 12 under for the tournament, to finish in 4th place. Dominic is originally from Pittsford, NY. After finishing an impressive junior career, he continued on to play college golf for Auburn University. While at Auburn, he became the first Tiger golfer in history to win back to back tournaments at the 2011 US Collegiate and the Gator Invitational.

Roberto Diaz finished T21 after shooting 4 under for the tournament. Roberto Diaz has been playing professional golf since 2009, after finishing his career at the University of South Carolina Aiken. Aiken has played in 23 PGA Latino American events where he has 5 top 25 finishes.

Richard Werenski is a graduate of the International Junior Golf Academy. After finishing at the IJGA, Werenski went on to continue his golf career at Georgia Tech. During his senior year at Georgia Tech, Werenski had two top-5 finishes. Werenski also tied the second lowest round in Georgia Tech history when he shot a 62 (ten under) at the Puerto Rico Classic.

The IJGT ELITE competed in tournaments all over the world last week. The following IJGT ELITE members recorded top-15 finishes on the PGA Tour and Web.com Tour last week.

World Golf Championships Cadillac Championship –Miami, Florida — March 5-8, 2015

Webb Simpson tied for seventh with a 2-under 286. He carded an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole in the first round.

Rickie Fowler tied for 12th with an even-par 288. He recorded a 4-under 68 in round one and carded an eagle on the par-4 11th hole in round three.

Puerto Rico Open — Rio Grande, Puerto Rico — March 5-8, 2015

Jon Curran participated in a five-man playoff for the championship after finishing 72 holes with a 7-under 281. He ended up in a four-way tie for second. Curran shot under par in all four rounds.

Scott Pinckney tied for sixth with a 6-under 282 tournament total. Pinckney also shot under par in all four rounds.

Cartagena de Indias at Karibana Championship — Cartagena, Colombia — March 5-8, 2015

Kevin Tway recorded a 4-under 284 tournament total to tie for fourth. He started the tournament off strong, shooting a 5-under 67 in round one.

Jamie Lovemark tied for 13th with a 1-under 287 tournament total. He shot in the 60s in the first two rounds and was tied for the lead during the second round.

Roberto Diaz tied for 15th with an even-par 288. He carded a 4-under 68 in round two.

The IJGT would also like to wish the best of luck to the 13 IJGT alums competing in the SwingThought Tour’s Cardinal Classic at Diamondhead this week. These players include: Jarrod Barsamian, Sean Bosdosh, Thomas Bradshaw, James Erkenbeck, Shun Yat Hak, Joseph Harrison, CD Hockersmith, Patrick Lundy, Justin Martinson, Andrew Mason, Seth Reeves, Luis Thiele and Cole Willcox.

IJGT ELITE: Beau Hossler earns first collegiate win

The IJGT would like to congratulate Beau Hossler of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., on recording his first collegiate win this past weekend! Hossler, a sophomore at the University of Texas, carded a 4-under 212 tournament total during the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational to lead the Longhorns to their second win of the season. He was the only competitor to finish under par and won by five strokes. After the win, Hossler earned Golfweek men’s college golf Player of the Week honors. Fellow IJGT alum Jonathan Garrick (UCLA) tied for fourth with a tournament total of 3-over 219.

The following IJGT ELITE members also recorded top-10 finishes in NCAA tournaments last week:

Bruin Wave Invitational — Los Angeles, CA — March 2-3, 2015

Erynne Lee (UCLA), who finished second in the 2005 IJGT event at The Sandpiper, captured the individual title with an even-par 216 tournament total. She won by a decisive five strokes. The victory marks the fourth of Lee’s career; she’s won one tournament in each of her four seasons.

Eimi Koga (Washington), who finished second in the 2010 IJGT event at Wigwam Resort, tied for eighth with an 8-over 224 tournament total helping lead her team to victory.

2015 National Invitational Tournament — Tucson, AZ — February 28-March 2, 2015

George Cunningham (Arizona), who finished third in the 2010 Bridgestone Golf Tournament of Champions, tied for second with a 4-under 212 tournament total.

Patrick Winther (Colorado State), who finished in the top three in 17 of 18 IJGT starts, tied for sixth with a 1-under 215.

Querencia Cabo Collegiate — Los Cabos, Mexico — March 1-3, 2015

Rigel Fernandes (South Florida), who recorded a top-10 finish at the 2006 IJGT event at Championsgate, tied for fourth with a 6-under 207 tournament total. He shot a 7-under 64 in round one.

IJGT alum Zach Wright (Louisiana State) tied for 10th with a tournament total of 1-under 212.

Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic –Kiawah Island, SC — March 1-3, 2015

Andrea Slane (Delaware), who finished second in the 2009 IJGT event at Westin Mission Hills, tied for third with an even-par 216 tournament total. She shot a 3-under 69 in round two on the Oak Point course.

30th Annual Louisiana Classics — Lafayette, LA — March 2-3, 2015

Brian Campbell (Illinois), the 2009 IJGT West Mid-Season champion at PGA West, tied for fifth with a 3-under 213 tournament total to help lead his team to victory.

Daniel Hudson, (Kansas), the 2013 IJGT Florida Swing at Harmony Golf Preserve champion, tied for eighth with a 1-under 215 tournament total. He carded a 5-under 67 in round one.

The IJGT would also like to wish good luck to the 16 IJGT alums who are competing in the Cartagena de Indias at Karibana Championship on March 5-8, 2015. These players include Rodolfo Cazaubon, Roberto Diaz, Andres Echavarria, Kevin Foley, Chris Gilman, Hunter Hamrick, Tain Lee, Jamie Lovemark, Timothy Madigan, Martin Piller, Steve Saunders, Trevor Simsby, Kevin Tway, Aaron Watkins, Richy Werenski and Andrew Yun.
