Godfrey-Singleton featured in IJGT Photo of the Week – July 7, 2014

The IJGT hosted the Summer Series at Ridgemont Country Club in Rochester, N.Y., on July 1-2, 2014. While abundant sunshine translated to warm temperatures, the hefty winds made for difficult playing conditions for the juniors. This week’s Photo of the Week from the event features Sarah Godfrey-Singleton of Depew, N.Y.

The second-place finisher in the Girls Division posted scores of 83-82 — 165 overall, her best scores to date with the IJGT. Godfrey-Singleton’s second place is her third top-five finish and her performance was highlighted by 19 total pars and two second-round birdies.

Summer Series at Ridgemont Country Club – Final Results

The IJGT hosted its second event of the Summer Series at Ridgemont Country Club in Greece N.Y. Weather in round one was warm with abundant sunshine and gusts of wind reaching 40 mph. The second round saw considerable cloud covering in the morning but the afternoon yielded plenty of sunshine with temperatures rising into the mid 80s.

10483112_10154368324725026_6561189008539393097_nIn the Boys 15-19 Division, Evan Gaesser of Kendall N.Y., won the division in impressive fashion. Gaesser started off well during round one, scoring 37 on the front nine which included a birdie on the long par-3 No. 7.  Gaesser finished his first round with a 5-over score of 77. Gaesser kicked off his second round by landing his approach shot within inches before tapping in for birdie on the par-4 first hole. Showing consistency throughout his round, the New York native had 11 pars and two birdies en route to a second-round score of 75.

There was a tie for second place between Ryan Kelly of Annapolis, Md., and Alec Miller of Pittsford, N.Y. Both juniors shot a two-day total of 156. Kelly and Miller battled throughout both rounds to finish within four strokes of Gaesser. Kelly found himself out in front of Miller by three strokes following round one but Miller shaved four strokes from his round-one score to regain his standing.

“I putted really well. my short game really saved me today,” said Gaesser.

The Boys 14 & Under Division was won by Dylan Plis of Camillus, N.Y., the first-ever IJGT victory for the junior. Consistency was the key of his game as he posted an identical score of 78 in both rounds. His first round was highlighted by two birdies in the first three holes. His front-nine even-par score of 36 was a tournament best for Plis. Round two featured 10 pars, including a streak of five on the back nine. Plis finished with scores of 78-78 —  156.

Saddy Sadokierski of Richmond Hill, Ontario, finished second with scores of 83-85 — 168 after tallying nine pars and a birdie to start out the tournament. Despite struggling with a few bogeys, Sadokierski bounced back with another nine pars in round two. Jack O’Donovan rounded out the top three with scores of 84-85 –169.

Plis said, “My mindset today was to shoot in the 70’s and keep the ball in front of me.”

image (4)The Girls Division was won by Sydney Shaw of Orchard Park, N.Y. Following numerous lead changes in the race for first, used three second-round birdies to gain the advantage. Tallying scores of 86-76 — 162, Shaw shaved a staggering 10 strokes from her round-one score en route to taking first.

Sarah Godfrey-Singleton of Depew, N.Y., finished in second place. Godfrey- Singleton added two birdies of her own in round two to secure second with scores of 83-85 — 165. Rounding out the top three for the Girls Division was Emily Connors with a two-day score of 175.

When asked, Shaw said, “I just wanted to play consistently and putt better than I did yesterday. I wanted to limit my three putts.”

Uengiranpaisan siblings nab IJGT Player of the Week honors – June 18, 2014

The IJGT kicked off the summer series at Crescent Pointe in Bluffton, S.C., on June 17-18, 2014. The weather was great all week and the staff at Crescent Pointe was outstanding. There were many great scores throughout the whole tournament with a few players posting career-best finishes on the IJGT. The brother-sister duo from Bangkok, Thailand, Kanawut Uenghiranpaisan and Ammy Uengiranpaisan have received IJGT Player of the Week honors.

DSC_1096Playing in his 10th IJGT event of the 2014 year, Kanawut Uenghiranpaisan carded a career-best third-place finish. He started off the first round with a score of 83 but bounced back to card a 4-over-par 75 in the second round. Kanawut Uenghiranpaisan made five birdies in his second round, none more impressive than his birdie on the par-5 17th  hole. The Bangkok native showed consistency throughtout the round by going 2-under on holes five through 10. We wish Kanawut the best and look forward to seeing him again for tournament play!

 

DSC_1248Ammy Uenghiranpaisan, playing in her eighth IJGT event of the year, began her summer at Crescent Pointe by firing a career-low score of 85. She linked together a stretch of spectacular pars on holes 12 through 16 to finish the day in second place. Ammy Uenghiranpaisan has seen tremendous progress playing with IJGT thus far and we are excited to see what success comes from her in the future!

Summer Series at Crescent Pointe – Final Results

Consistency translates to a victory for Puangcharoen
Bunthanawong becomes first-time winner at Crescent Pointe

BLUFFTON, S.C. – The IJGT kicked off the Summer Series in the southeast at Crescent Pointe Golf Club on June 17-18, 2014. The first event of the summer schedule featured a field of 11 juniors ranging in age from 15-18 years old for the two-day, 36-hole event, competing for national rankings.

DSC_0790The Boys 15-19 Division was won by Kanoon Bunthanawong of Chonburi, Thailand. Finishing with scores of 74-78–152, Bunthanawong lead the tournament field throughout the weekend, looking confident around the golf course. His first win of his IJGT career was highlighted by a nine-hole par streak, making 14 total pars during his final round to accompany a birdie on his opening hole, par-4 No. 1.

Sidhartha Sharathram of Coimbatore, India, finished in second place with scores of 79-78—157, carding six consecutive pars on his back-nine during the final round. Kanawut Uenghiranpaisan of Bangkok, Thailand, finished in third place with scores of 83-75—158. Uenghiranpaisan improved on his round-one scores on 11 of 18 holes during his final round. With five birdies and seven pars, Uenghiranpaisan earned him the Clazic Belt Low Final Round Award, the award offered to the player who shoots the lowest score during the final round.

DSC_0620The word of the tournament was consistency for Mind Puangcharoen of Chonburi, Thailand, who took home the first place finish in the Girls Division, as well as her first IJGT victory. With a tournament total of 75-75—150, Puangcharoen carded her best ever nine-hole score, posting a 35 on her first round front-nine. She also finished par or better on 13 holes during her final round. Her final round 4-over-par 75 earned her the Clazic Belt Low Final Round Award for the Girls Division.

Ammy Uenghiranpaisan of Bangkok, Thailand, finished second with scores of 85-100—185, carding her best tournament round in an IJGT event with a score of 85. Rounding out the Girls Division was Stephanie Orrell of Ontario, Canada, who tallied scores of 117-101–218.

The IJGT kicked off its Summer Series at Crescent Pointe Golf Club on June 17, 2014. With high humidity and temperatures in the mid 80s, juniors saw summer-like conditions in the first event of the summer lineup. In review, divisional leaders’ rounds in numbers are listed below:
