Thanksgiving Day Classic at TPC Sawgrass – Tour Preview

The IJGT will be traveling to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., for the highly-anticipated Thanksgiving Day Classic at TPC Sawgrass on November 27-29, 2014. Held at one of the world’s most popular clubs, the three-day, 54-hole event will be contested on the Pete Dye-designed Valley and THE PLAYERS Stadium Courses, of which the latter is highlighted by one of the most difficult holes on the PGA TOUR — the signature par-3 17th island green. TPC Sawgrass, which plays host to THE PLAYERS Championship, is the birthplace of the TPC Network and is the backdrop of the PGA Headquarters. At stake will be IJGT merit points and national rankings.

With a still-growing field of more than 80 juniors from across the nation and around the world, be sure to keep an eye on Shiso Go of Kanagawa, Japan, and Tennoshin Ogawa of Ichinomiya-shi, Japan, in the Boys 15-19 Division. Both ranking in the top-three of the IJGT Tour Rankings, the two will look to take home hardware from the Thanksgiving Day Classic. Go is coming off of a first-place Major Championship victory at Dormie Club while Ogawa boasts two wins thus far this season.

In the Boys 14 & Under Division, Thomas Pfoestl of Schenna, Italy, will look to hold on to his first-place ranking in the divisional IJGT Tour Rankings with another win. Pfoestl is coming off of his first IJGT win in the Major Championship at Dormie Club, his first win in a Major and first on the IJGT.

Victoria Parker of Lewiston, N.Y., will look to defend her second-place ranking in the IJGT Tour Rankings with her first southeast event of the season. Parker carries a two tournament winning streak, the most recent coming at the Major Championship at Out Door CC on Ocober 25-26, 2014. Sera Tadokoro of Osaka, Japan, will also look to contend in the Girls Division. Tadokoro has three IJGT wins and has finished in the top five in 16 of her 25 career events.
