Things to do if the snow won’t let you play golf

This weekend, IJGT was supposed to hold the Spring Kickoff at White Manor CC in Malvern, PA, but had to cancel due to winter storm Stella burying the course in fluffy white stuff. If you’ve missed out on the snow the northeast got this week, here are a couple images to show you why we’re not going to be pegging it Saturday and Sunday:

Since it is hard to find a white ball in white snow, if you are up in the northeast this weekend, or anywhere else where golf isn’t a great option for an outdoor activity, we put together a couple alternatives:

1. Register for the rescheduled White Manor event.

Thanks to White Manor, you can still play an IJGT event at this awesome venue this Spring! We have rescheduled the Spring Kickoff for the weekend of April 1st and 2nd. Click here to go to the event page and register now! This is an awesome opportunity for junior golfers in the Northeast to play a competitive tournament while the weather is warming up and you’re getting back into the swing of tournament schedules and competition season.

2. Watch the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.

If you can’t play the game, you might as well watch it (if you’re not watching the first round of March Madness). If you haven’t been on social media this week, you have missed everything Arnold Palmer, from Rickie’s shoes to Rory sharing a letter Arnold wrote him after he won at Congressional.

And this #ArnieWould Mastercard commercial just tugs at the heartstrings:

It is worth to watch just to celebrate The King, but people forget that junior golfers can also learn a lot from watching the good guys play. Also, The Legacy of Arnold Palmer:

3. Indoor Practice

If you are just unable to take a weekend from practicing, there are tons of great videos from instructors online that offer different drills you can do while you’re hanging out, watching the golf or basketball. Or there are tons of resources that can help you get better next time your hitting the practice area. For example, future IJGA Director of Instruction, Jonathan Yarwood has a whole channel of awesome resources on YouTube. Jonathan Yarwood’s track record speaks for itself: a US Open winner, 2 US Amateur winners, 2 US Girls’ Winners, 3 AJGA Players of the Year, 4 #1 juniors, a collegiate #1, a winner on six major tours around the world plus more. Click here to go to Jonathan Yarwood’s Youtube channel.

4. Check out Lie + Loft

Check out a cool new golf startup, Lie + Loft (lieandloft.com).

Lie + Loft was created by NC State PGM graduate Luke Davis, a golf design startup located right here in the Carolinas.  Lie + Loft designs prints of golf courses and works with artists to sell products connecting golf + home.  You’ll definitely want to check out their instagram @lieandloft.  Next month @luke.j.davis will be biking, camping, and golfing over 900 miles down Hwy 1 (Portland to Pebble), hauling his camping gear and golf clubs in tow.

5. Check out the Puma Golf gear for Spring.

It’s not going to be cold forever, and the spring golf line is *fire*. As a staff we have absolutely loved everything we ordered for spring uniforms. The tournament directors have been rocking these awesome wind popovers, that you can find in long sleeve here. We have also all been loving our Ignite Spikeless Golf Shoes. Plus, not to brag, but our staff also rocks this orange stripe look Rickie had going on when he won The Honda Classic. Click here to go to the Puma Golf site.

This one felt good!! Hard work pays off!! 📷cred @eyeonuphoto
